Severus Snape, really did not want to be here again.

He subtly glanced down the professor's table, scarcely noticing the empty seat, before looking at Dumbledore's newest dim witted recruit for a defense teacher.

Gildroy fucking Lockhart was an idiot when they were in school, and he was still an idiot now.

Severus could not believe Dumbledore had chosen someone like that for the position over him.

Again.

Was last years choice not bad enough?

The man with The Dark Lord literally on the back of his head?

Severus's thoughts were pulled back to the letter sitting unopened on his night table.

At least he had one person he could have a decent conversation with. He'd really have to open the letter soon, his friend was not known for their patience...

"Now, before we all retire to our dorms to rest after such a wonderful feast, a few announcements..."

Severus tuned out of Dumbledore's speech, it was the same every year after all. No going to the forest, Filch added a hundred new items to his banned list, and of course the introduction of new professor's.

Severus was sure Gildroy was relishing in the attention.

"Yes! Thank you, Professor Lockhart. Additionally, we have a new Muggle Studies Professor. She has yet to arrive, but I am sure you will all get to meet her-"

The doors to the hall violently swung open, and all heads turned to see the panting mess of the Blue haired woman standing there.

"I'm here!! Sorry! Sorry." She placed her hands on her hips as she stood up straight still trying to catch her breath.

She looked the same as Severus remembered her, blue hair, yellow jumper tucked into faded muggle jeans, and probably the most worn out pair of Chuck Taylor's he'd ever seen.

"You know, y'all really got a spider problem out there, thought they were going to eat me.." she waved her hand behind her absentmindedly.

Dumbledore walked from behind his podium and Severus stood from his seat.

"Welcome my dear! I am so glad you could join us this year." The headmaster said holding his arms out to engulf the small woman in a hug.

"Of course! You already hi-jacked one half of the dream team, might as well have the more pleasant side to even it out." She said as she awkwardly dodged the hug, and held her hand out for him to shake instead.

"How's ever-" she started to ask him but Severus interrupted

"Masondrit Cassandra! What on Salazar are you doing here?!" He rounded the table as he started stalking towards the girl.

The entire hall went silent as they heard the terrifying growl present in the potion masters voice.
The students looked on apprehensively between the dark Potions Master and the bright young Woman.

"You'd know if you had opened your mail." Meae crossed her arms at him.

"I've been busy." He replied
"You've been stubborn!" She argued back.

Professor McGonagall stood from her seat now as well.

"As lovely as it is to have you back Miss Night, perhaps you should finish this conversation later? In private?" She gently demanded.

Mason smiled at Minerva kindly, before turning back to face Severus , her smile slowly becoming beaming. She ran straight to him and engulfed him in an enormous hug. Severus only stumbled slightly, unaccustomed as he was of late to such embraces, before steadying them both.

He fought the smile threatening to overcome his face as he accepted the embrace without returning it.

He had a reputation to uphold, after all.

The students of the hall all looked upon the pair wide eyed, none more than those of the Griffindor table.

"Blimey, that's either the most idiotic woman I've ever seen, or the bravest." Ron stared wide eyed and slightly disgusted.

"Don't be stupid Ronald! They obviously know each other. She's probably a friend." Hermione snapped across the table.

Harry stared at the pair in bewilderment "I didn't know Snape could have friends... I wonder what she's doing here."

"Who cares?" The twins said overhearing the younger years from a little down the table.

"Yeah" Jordan finished for them "she's a goddess."

The students all watched as she swiftly detached from Professor Snape and made her way around the table to finish her 'hellos'. She stopped by Professor Sprout to give her a warm hug, which was this time returned. She Then made her way to Hagrid and placed a kiss upon his cheek, he blushed profusely and smiled at the Woman as she made her way to the empty seat simply standing behind it.

"Students! May I introduce you to our new Muggle Studdies Professor, Masondrit Night!" Dumbledore introduced.

"No fucking way!" The twins exclaimed to themselves.

"Do you think it's too late to switch?"
"We could probably rearrange our schedule to fit it-"
"We might have to drop something to fit it in-"

The twins looked at each other as the same thought in their head occurred

"Divination." They said.

"What are you two on about now? Do you know who she is?!" Ron demanded of them

"You don't?" They asked

Jordan piped in incredulous
"She's only the most badass witch to come out of Hogwarts in the last 20 years."

Fred piped up next
"She fought the Wizarding war, took out over a dozen of you-know-who followers single handed, before one of them got her with a rather nasty memory charm."

Hermione piped in next
"She also holds the equipment development contract at the ministry of magic."

"How do you know that?" Ron incredulously asked.

"Because I read Ronald!-"

"Why's she working here then?" Harry interrupted.

"Doesn't matter, I for one, am ecstatic she's here." Fred stated as he got up from the table.

The Gryffindors all cast one last glance at the woman who had gone back to excitedly talking to Snape, hand motions and all.

Harry couldn't help wondering why they were friends, they were nothing alike.
