Stories spread fast in a school like Hogwarts.

Meae and Severus's new bond was no exception. though the rumor of them being madly in love was nothing new, it seemed to have escalated with this new development.

It irked him, that every corner he turned someone had something to say about Meae and he.

He'd get ridiculed for her being younger.

He'd be gushed to about how cute their protectiveness of each other was.

They couldn't believe he'd irrevocably tied himself to a girl.

How romantic it was that he'd found his literal Soulmate.

The worst came from the people of his own house.

She was of a strong bloodline it was a good choice to trap her.

Was he going to go on a crazy murderess rampage after graduation as well?

Just wait until they marry and he has all that fortune to call his own.

He might as well change his name now and get used to the sound of Severus Night.

It wasn't that their assumptions of his motives particularly irked him, he was used to people not liking him.

It was that no one knew the truth.

Not a single one of those people knew anything about what lead them here.

Not a single one of those people knew how Dumbledore and those stupid muggles almost killed her.

Not one of them knew that the same people who'd raised her were also the ones who tortured her.

Not one of them knew, HE HAD TO DO IT for fear the ministry would find out and extinguish one of the only lights in his life.

Not one of them knew, the ones supposed to be protecting her, were also the ones trying to control her, use her.

But Severus knew...

And he'd tied her to him forever.

He didn't wish to hold her back from greatness
he didn't want to make her do anything she didn't choose to do
He didn't want to oppress her.

He'd give her all the room she wished for, and everything he could give in return for all she's given him....

But he still stuck her in a cage, didn't he?

It was a large one undoubtedly.

But a cage nonetheless.

That realization had made him more irritable than any of their comments or snide remarks ever could.
