January 1976

It had been two weeks since the start of term after Christmas Holiday.

Meae still hadn't woken up.

Severus on the other hand, had woken up a few days ago.

His body was still incredibly weak, which Severus attributed to Mason's magic getting used to its additional home.

Her magic now flowed freely between the two of them. Severus could now use, store, or dispel her magic energy at will.

But the bond did more than create a pathway for her energy.

His body felt sore, more than just the usual aches and pains that came with sleeping for too long. His leg felt uncomfortably warm, and his torso felt as if it'd been hit repeatedly with bricks, There was a tingling sensation in his fingers and toes.

The physical feelings weren't the only thing though.

Severus felt a despondent sort of hollowness, inside of him. It was a numb sort of sadness and anger that didn't feel like his own, because it felt like grief.

He looked over at the bed across the wing from him, to Meae, who looked as if she was just resting peacefully.

He knew better.

Mason was in pain, and grieving.

"Mr. Snape?"

Severus looked away from Mason to the mediwitch who called him.

She gave him a strange sort of harsh look.
"The Professors and Headmaster would like a few words with you." She told him.

He sighed as he looked to his hands in his lap. He knew sooner or later he'd have to answer their questions, but part of him had hoped Mason would be awake to face the consequences with him.

He nodded at the Mediwitch, before glancing back over at Mason.

He knew in their soul, Mason would do the same for him.

It was safe to say Severus knew he had never been a favorite student of Minerva McGonagall, he'd just.... never realized how much until the ensuing argument.

Severus could only listen to the woman berate him for so long, before he'd snapped back at her.

"She would have died!"

"There were other ways of helping her, I'm sure, than turning her into a battery. Why didn't you go to an adult? Some one more qualified to help her?! What you two have done is reckless, and dangerous!"

"If the ministry had known she couldn't control her magic, they would have taken her who knows where and done Merlin knows what to her!"
