October 1975
Severus Snape stared in awe at the glittering figures in front of him.
He had known, in the back of his mind, that there had been a possibility. He'd just never expected that reoccurring joke to be true.
He glanced over at the girl standing beside him, and watched as the glittering of the lights lit up the joyous expression on her face.
Severus smiled to himself.
Her joy was difficult not to drown in.
"I think a part of me always knew, yours and Mason's guardians would be the same... it's just-"
"A little different seeing it in person, yeah I know what you mean." He answered.
He quickly looked back to the two guardians running through the air, before she could catch him staring.
"It makes me wonder sometimes... if I'm not just some sort of useless side character in the epic of your story."
Severus lost his concentration on the charm. As a result, the magnificent glittering Doe disappeared from sight.
"Lily Evans, you are not a side character! If anyone is a useless side character it's Dumbledore." He said.
The redhead beside him let out a started laugh.
"Severus you can't say that! He's the Headmaster!" She giggled.
Severus shrugged unapologetically before glancing around the room.
"You're one of the most important people to Masondrit and I. You could never be a side character..." he told her gently "besides you're too smart to ever let that happen to yourself."
The room was silent for a few moments until Severus heard a quiet sniffle.
"That was beautiful guys..."
They both quickly turned around and glanced at Mason standing a ways behind them.
Severus noticed the devious smirk on her face, and glared in her direction.
"Oh! Mason, sorry! I kinda forgot you were here..." Lily apologized blushing lightly in embarrassment.
If anything Mason's smirk turned wider and Severus's glare grew more intense.
"Yeah, I'll bet you did..." she said quietly.
Severus chances a glance at Lily to see she was distracted, before whipping back around to Mason.
