i wish i still loved you

thanks for reading! i wrote this piece by having a poet friend of mine (@poweroutagepoetry on instagram) generate 3 random words for me to write a poem about :)) it's how she writes poetry, and i thought it was really cool! it was definitely a challenge, but i'm happy with how it turned out... you should try it sometime!

i think i thought

it wouldn't be

over

so fast

i thought you'd

hold on for a little

longer

and perhaps i'd

pull a

miracle

out of my sleeve

and hand it over

to you

and you'd want to

stay

i think i thought

your goodwill

would last a little

longer

who knew that the

wick

of the candle of your

patience

was so short

my flame

burned it up

in seconds

i didn't even have time

to douse it

with my tears

i think i thought

that you'd hear me

hear my screams

even though they were

silent

feel my suffering

though you're

probably better off

without me

suffering a little

less

and that's good

and you'll grow up

and forget my face

my name

my eyes

that you always said

you loved

even though they're

dull and brown

not like yours

blue and sparkling

full of life

full of the life that you'll

live

when you meet

that girl

the one

i hope you find her

you deserve to

find her

you'll date for

a while

and perhaps

on a summer afternoon
