fall

dresses in the

summer

the windows

to the soul

it's easy to get

lost

in the

blocks upon

blocks

of high-rises

glass windows

reflecting you

a hundred

thousand

times

the zoom of

men on mopeds

and the revs

of motorcycles

leather jackets

smoke

blown up

from cigarettes

that are

stamped out

on cold

pavement

sidewalks

cluttered with

old

chewed-up

gum

it's easy to feel

alone

in big cities

though you're

surrounded by

people

but sometimes

as you're

pushing through

a crowd

of yelling

angry

pedestrians

to cross the street

before the

light

turns

red

you feel an

unmistakable

unbreakable

connection

a pull

a need

to be a part of this

group

for while you

may never

see that young

businesswoman

or that old

man

again

you will remember the

peace

in new york

next to them
