Everyone settled down after dinner in the living room. Abdul was jittery making everyone else uncomfortable as well.
He wanted to say something, but every time he opened his mouth, he realised nothing was good enough. He was afraid that he would mess up the small progress he made by going there, so he kept quiet.
Zaide noticed his father's hesitation and spoke up.
"Thank you, dad, for coming here today."
Zaide was on cloud nine to be honest. He wanted his family to be a part of his life. He could not picture a life where his mom and Thomas were not with him.
Abdul looked up, a little wide eyed. It was the first time they spoke after he made Zaide leave the house.
Everyone was quiet and looking at them. Abdul nodded his head jerkily.
"I just want to tell you, it's not easy for me, but I'm still trying." He looked at Thomas and back at his son again.
Smile broke out on Zaide's face. "That's enough for me."
Abdul felt the words forming in his mouth before he could realize what he was going to say and stop himself. "You know, you can be cured."
