Amere looked at me as if he had seen a ghost.
There wasn't a hospital in sight for a few hundred miles and we didn't have the resources to get air lifted immediately. We did not expect to be giving birth on our baby moon, but we're here nowZ
"Just calm down baby," I said as I felt the first contraction. I was terrified but I'm a warrior. I can handle anything.
I winced at the pain and moved over to the bed to sit for a second. Amere continued to stare saying nothing in complete shock.
"Snap out of it." I said throwing a pillow at him. He blinked repeatedly before he snapped back into reality.
"Baby I gotta call my folks, we're having a baby." He beamed in search for his phone as if nothing happened.
"Amere no stop," I whined, "This baby is coming and I'm about to have to give birth unassisted. I'm gonna need your help so go and wash your hands and come back
to me." He only nodded and jogged towards the bathroom.I let out a few breaths and counted to thirty before he came back.
"Ok," I said catching my breath. "I need you to go to the front office and ask for as many sheets as you can—two shower liners—a box of trash bags, write this stuff down." He opened his notes app and nodded for me to continue. "A handful of pillows, peroxide, a thermometer, a heating pad, olive oil, and some herbs if they have it. Tell them that you'll pay them extra to shop for these things in the gift shop. Also go to the gift shop and get a few baby outfits for him."
Luckily, I had a few name brand outfits packed into our stuff only because Arielle and Khalil had gifted them to us on our way here while we were dropping off the girls to them.
"Ok baby, are you gonna be okay here alone?"He asked wiping sweat from his forehead. "I'll be fine just go and hurry back." I responded not having any other choice.
"Ok," He said before rushing out the door.
I let out the breath that I had been holding in and doubled over holding my stomach in pain. I walked into the bathroom as best as I could and got the cleaning products from under the sink and began cleaning the tub.
Afterwards, I washed my hands three times and got a towel to put on my head. I laid back on the bed and tried to relax until Amere returned.
I said a silent prayer and asked God for his presence as we delivered this baby.
This was my first time ever having a baby and I wasn't sure that I could pull this off without a doctor present but I was literally made for this. My body knew what to do. All I had to do was be here— my body would do the rest.
