My eyes fluttered open to the sight of bright lights making me involuntarily scrunch my face up. With weak arms— I felt around for my bump to make sure my baby was ok and it was still there. I heard talking and did my best to lift my head up to see who it was coming from.
"Help me," I croaked out not being able to pick myself up. "She's awake!" A girl spoke sounding like a teenager. "I see that, go and get the doctor." Another woman spoke sternly. I heard footsteps coming towards me before someone picked up the bed remote lifting my head.
When I was high enough to see, there was an unfamiliar face looking back at me. "Who the hell are you?" I said rudely. I could hardly remember anything that happened. My brain was foggy and the last thing I remembered doing was picking up the twins. Where were the twins.
"I'm Keyshia," She spoke introducing herself. "I was picking up my son from the daycare when I seen you passed out on the ground with your kids in the car. They're in the waiting room along with your dog." She said softly.
"Passed out? Wow," I mumbled shockingly. "I'm sorry I just don't know you so it was kind of weird seeing your face and not a doctor or my family. Thank you so much for helping me." I said genuinely.
"Girl," She waved me off, "I would feel the exact same way waking up in a hospital room and some random girl is in my face, you are okay. I wanted to wait here until you woke up. My son is out there sitting with your girls."
"Thank you, It means a lot," I said honestly. Plenty of people would've just walked past as if nothing was going on, or even tried to harm the girls or steal. A number of things could've went wrong, so I was glad. "did you happen to get my phone?" "No it was broken and it wouldn't come back on so I left it in your car. I put your keys in your purse." She said motioning to my purse that was on the chair. I nodded looking around the room.
There was a knock at the door before I seen a younger girl, assuming the one who was in here before, and a doctor following behind her.
The older lady— Keyshia waved and they both left.
"It's good to have you back Arielle." The doctor said walking over to the computer.
"Can you just please tell me what's going on because I have no clue." She cleared her throat before flipping through her clipboard. "Well, it seems that you passed out due to the pain from the contractions you were having. You're experiencing something we call placenta abruption. It's when the placenta detaches from the inner wall of the womb before delivery which is before it's supposed to. We're not sure if this was already happening before the fall, or after but the fact is, this condition is life threatening to both you and your baby. Now, we've called your husband so we can wait to discuss your options or we can go ahead and discuss them now." She informed.
