NOVA

Despite the fact that my aunt died tragically on New Year's - awkward pause - it had been an alright night. I could understand why people looked forward to it all year.

It seemed that tonight was the night everybody was looking for love, if they hadn't already found it, and to be honest, I couldn't blame them. Love is the most indescribable, spectacular, most wonderful feeling in the whole entire world, and everyone deserves to feel it.

Well, everybody except me apparently.

I had been with my fair share of guys, none of them special. Actually, let me rephrase, they were special to me but me not so much to them. Six failed attempts this year, surely that's a record. I was freakin' delusional when it came to relationships. I craved fantasy, and the funny thing about fantasies is that they don't exist.

Every boy I had ever seriously dated ended up having a negative impact on my life: Sung-ho was a narcissist, Sam a cheater, Jae was a result of my daddy issues, Dae-Jung literally wouldn't shut up about how "chunky" I was, and bartender Chan was a really awkward work romance.

That just leaves Kai.

Even the sound of his name made my hairs stand on end. I often wondered what he was doing with his life nowadays, which was crazy after what he did. To this day he still had a hold over me, one that I just couldn't shake.

Anyways, I know I told myself no boys in the upcoming year, but where's the fun in that? Love demands to be felt. I couldn't stop thinking about Jimin and his crazy-good looks, his charm, that cheeky smile and the aura he gave off in general... He felt like a prize and I so wanted to claim him.

"So, who was that you were talking to a minute ago?" Sana asked, taking a shot of vodka.

"His name's Jimin, he asked me out for a drink," I shrugged, causing Sana to whip her head around to look at me with such ferocity that I was worried it was going to fly off her neck.

"NO, NO, NO and oh yeah, NO!" She scolded, making me laugh as I expected that exact reaction.

Throwing her head back in frustration, she began her signature whine, "I am not peeling you off the couch one more time, you stunk of alcohol and cheese last time!"

I couldn't blame her for worrying, I knew I had never had any luck with guys but still, what was one drink going to do? He was just apologising on behalf of his friends, right?

"You're going to regret it," she warned, frowning slightly at me.

"Maybe, but he's attractive and I have nothing to do after this!" I replied with a cheeky wink.

"I mean, I can't argue with that!" Sana confessed, laughing at my stupidity whilst pouring me a shot. "To the new year and Nova's newfound luck with guys!" We both counted in unison before knocking it back.
