NOVA

"I think tonight's gonna be a good night!" I confidently stated. I was okay, just a little crazed. Hyunjin was currently taking advantage of my energy by making me polish all of the cocktail glasses.

"That's the spirit!" Sana cheered, flashing me a proud smile.

"I saw you leave with that boy yesterday, the pretty one," Hyunjin chimed in, narrowing his eyes at me, pushing for me to explain myself.

Sana swiftly turned to smack him with a tea towel, achieving an unimpressed scowl from him as he rubbed the back of his head in discomfort. I knew she was just protecting me, but I didn't need her to anymore. I'd let people abuse me all my life without doing anything to stop it and it was time to stop being so weak.

"It's fine, Sana!" I laughed, patting Hyunjin's shoulder. "He doesn't know what happened, so of course he's curious."

I'd never held back any secrets, except a few, or a lot. It eats you alive.

"Look Jin, long story short, I got involved with another nutter. I went back to his house and he seemed so genuine and lovely but then he switched and just wasn't anymore," I revealed nonchalantly, shrugging because it was old news now.

He looked at me softly before reaching his arms out for a hug. Hyunjin was always so sweet, he truly cared about me and was always there to welcome me with open arms after I made a poor decision. If he wasn't so in love with bartender Chan, I would have forced him to marry me long ago.

"My Nova," he whispered, holding me close, "when I see that guy next, I'll kill him for you." His usual higher tone had transformed into something dark, something I wasn't used to.

"Okay Jin, you do that," I chuckled, patting his chest.

The shift was actually going smoothly tonight, and everyone was in such a good mood. It wasn't as busy as it was yesterday, but it was still a full house.

Walking over to the booth that they were sitting in yesterday; I was happy to see it filled with the usual average businessmen. Flicking my hair behind my shoulder, I prepared to get on the table to give them a dance.

"Nova!" I flinched as Johnny shouted over the music to me.

I closed my eyes and prepared for my night to be ruined.

"I've got a favour that I think you'll be interested in taking up," he grinned, smiling down at me.

What the hell are you gonna ask for now, Johnny?

I couldn't work out if he was being sarcastic or not. "If you ask me to join the waiting staff one more time, I will quit. Just warning you, but go on..." I encouraged sceptically, narrowing my eyes in suspicion.
