"There's barely enough time to love in a lifetime, please don't give it all away to pain," his words were gentle, yet slightly pleading as his hand trailed down my cheek.
"But what if the pain has already consumed me?"

NOVA
Jungkook pulled up outside my apartment after a quiet drive home. It wasn't awkward silence—more like a careful one. One wrong move, and we'd be on top of each other again.
Being around him stirred emotions I couldn't quite explain. One moment, he was cocky, his gaze dark and dangerous, as if he could tear me apart with just a look. The next, he was almost shy, like a boy nervously working up the courage to ask a girl to prom. But then, there was the final version of him—the one that lingered in my mind the most. The feverishly dominant man who had me feeling things I'd never experienced before.
"Nova," he finally broke the silence, turning to face me in his seat.
"Yes?" I croaked, caught off guard by the sudden shift.
"You're a good person," he began, and my throat tightened. Why did it sound like he was about to say goodbye? "But you should know... I'm not a good guy. None of us are."
"You don't need to—" I tried to steer away.
"I'm just saying, be careful. Getting involved with us is... tricky."
Why did he suddenly sound so serious?
I forced a smile, trying to lighten the mood. "I'm a big girl. I can handle it. And let me remind you, we just met. Who said I was getting involved?" I let my tongue rest against my tooth.
He glanced at me, raising an eyebrow before chuckling. "Alright, alright. I warned you."
I opened the car door and headed towards my apartment complex. At the entrance, I turned back, gathering my courage.
"Jungkook?" I called out. "Consider this your warning. Getting involved with me won't be easy either."
He smirked, nodding as he processed my words. "Well, I've never been one for boring girls anyway."
And then he sped off.
I stood there, feeling a little embarrassed by my own boldness. Sure, I had baggage, but what did he mean by 'getting involved with us'? What is 'us'?
Unlocking my front door, I barely had time to adjust to the room before being engulfed in a tight hug.
"Where have you been?" Sana breathed, her grip firm. "I've been worried sick! I left you like a thousand messages!"
"Sorry, I just needed to get out of there," I whispered, rubbing her back. "Jungkook took me to his studio and—"
"Jungkook? One of those booth boys?" The disappointment in her voice was unmistakable.
"Yeah... the one who kissed me at midnight on New Year's Eve." I smiled dreamily, the memory of the night still fresh. "He's amazing."
"You slept with him, didn't you?" she gasped, her eyes wide.
