NOVA

Taxi or no taxi? That was the question I was asking myself as I practically jumped down six flights of stairs, missing at least four steps at a time.

I wasn't wasting any time.

I had no idea where my phone was since everything was taken away from me at the hospital: my dress, the necklace Tae gave me, my phone, my house keys. I was going to have to try my luck yelling for a taxi.

"TAXI!" I screamed, pushing through my apartment doors into the rain. It was still dark out, but I could feel the cool air start to lift as the morning progressed.

I ran out in front of the car, the puddles on the street splashing my feet in the sliders I had quickly slipped on in the rush.

"STOP, STOP, STOP!" I yelled as it failed to slow down.

The orange taxi screeched to a halt in front of me, so close that I had to place my hands on the bonnet to keep my balance.

"Thank you!" I shouted, still on a high from my adrenalin as I toppled into the car.

"You're crazy, lady!" The taxi driver complained.

"I'm in a fucking rush, that's why! Now step on it!" I was so going to follow that up with an apology straight after.

The driver panicked, his wheels spinning as he stepped on the gas. "Lady, I don't even know where we're going?"

"Oh yeah, right. Well, I don't know the name of the building! It's on my phone and my phone was taken by the nurse's when they detained me. I would have gotten it back but you're not exactly thinking about those kinds of things when you're escaping a mental institution..."

He looked at me through his rear-view mirror, blinking excessively at my innocent eyes.

"Oh no, you're actually crazy..." he whined, gripping onto the steering wheel.

"Aish! I'm not crazy at the moment. I'm actually thinking straight for the first time in my life, thank you very much!" I scolded him, crossing my arms at his rude comment.

"I'm going to get into trouble, aren't I? We're not being followed, are we? Why did you have to choose my car?"

"Calm down – LEFT HERE!" I screeched, making him take a sharp turn. "You're probably safer being away from my apartment, the first place the hospital will search will be there."

"Right..."

"I'm going to see someone, you see. He's very important to me-" I started to explain before he cut me off.

"I don't care."

"Tsk. You don't have to be so rude..." I mumbled, sitting back against the seat. "It's a right, then a left."
