JUNGKOOK
The elevator doors opened to the modern, open-plan space that I had spent lots of time in as an apprentice. So as I took a step out and glanced over to his desk where he used to sit and teach me his trade, I was surprised to find it empty.
Namjoon didn't say anything as I entered, he was standing with his back to me, staring out of the ginormous window that filled the whole of the far side of his office. I wasn't in the position to waste any time, so I cleared my throat as I sat on the leather sofa facing his desk.
"So you're talking to me now?" Namjoon scoffed, still not turning around.
"It's important."
I hadn't spoken to Namjoon for three weeks since the incident with Kano. The only reason I was in the drug trade was because of him, I wanted to be a businessman that's why I joined his apprenticeship scheme. Namjoon was one of the most respected men in Korea: he was reliable, hard-working, and charitable. I looked up to him for so long because he was so young when he built his empire. I never expected him to have a side business like this and I certainly didn't expect to be dragged into it. That's why I cherished my studio, it was something I had saved up and bought with my own untainted money.
I had blamed Namjoon for putting Nova in such a dangerous position, only because I was too weak to blame myself. I never invited her back to my place because I was afraid, afraid that she'd find out about the secret I'd been hiding. I was so ashamed of the business I had got caught up in, that when I was with her, I wanted to be transported far away from my reality.
The only reason she found out the way she did was because I was too busy fucking up that ex-boyfriend of hers to think about the repercussions of sending her to my apartment.
It was all my fault.
I was the reason she took those pills; I was the reason she had snapped.
"I guessed it was important by your tone on the phone," Namjoon sighed, finally turning round to face me. He looked as intimidating as ever, but still, I buried my need to cower at his stance. Whenever I was around my elder, I had this inherent need to impress him.
"I'm here because I need your help-"
"Let me guess, this is about your precious girlfriend," he snickered, rolling his eyes. "Trouble in paradise?"
Ignoring his obnoxious comment, I tried to explain the real reason I'd come to him for help... without giving too much away. It wasn't going to be easy since Nova barely gave me any information.
"Something's wrong with her... She's not very well..." I found the subject increasingly difficult to talk about.
"And what's that got to do with me?" He asked in a dejected tone, not really paying attention as he sat down at his desk.
