"So how would you like a tattoo date?" I asked Ryan, he was stopped at a red light in town. I took notice of the tattoo shop I used to go to all the time right across the road. The green and black of the fluorescent sign cast a shadow on the pavement below. This was always a nice place, clean, and everyone was friendly.
"Sounds different, but I'm down. Do you have anything in mind?" He asked. I had been planning on making an appointment to get something but I was wondering what Ryan might think about it.
"I was thinking about getting a star and moon tattoo. Because Eleanor is my star and you've become my moon and I wanted to get something for you both." I eased him into the idea, hoping that he didn't find it weird that I wanted a tattoo for him.
"I like it. I'll have to get something as well." Pulling into the parking lot, Ryan shut off the truck and got out. I grabbed my purse and met him at his side. "How many tattoos do you have?" I asked him, knowing that his leg had a multitude of them. "I don't even know anymore. How many do you have?" He countered the question back to me. "I lost count after twenty." with a laugh, he opened the door and held it for me to walk through. Being greeted by a younger woman covered in tattoos, she smiled and asked what we needed. "Do you guys still do walk-ins?"
I hadn't even thought about looking at the window for any type of sign. I had been too preoccupied with talking with Ryan.
"Yes, we still do. You all are in luck too, it's been a slow night with everyone canceling their appointments. What are you two looking to get?" She walked back to the desk, grabbing some papers.
"She's wanting to get a moon and star tattoo and I was wanting to get a sun and star." Ryan had stepped in before I could say anything. She nodded her head while looking for something on the desk in front of us. We both handed her our driver's license, knowing she would need it and our finished paperwork.
Before I could even blink she was escorting us to two separate rooms, I smiled at Ryan as he was led into a room with a guy sitting at a black desk with different things lining the shelves. I sat down on the chair, watching as the same woman moved papers to find her iPad. "Do you have a picture of what you'd like or would you like to look through some of our books?" She asked. I had been looking at different pictures for the last few weeks and found one that I liked,
"I have this one but I just want something simple." I showed her what I was meaning and watched as she looked through her tablet, finding the same photo. She printed it out on the special paper and got her set up ready.

So I hadn't planned on getting a tattoo tonight but once Sienna told me about her idea of the moon and star, I knew that I had to get a sun and star on me because both she and Eleanor were my sunshine and star. I didn't care if it was a spur-of-the-moment decision, I didn't care if it was on my body forever, and I damn sure don't care if anyone disapproved of it. Because when I saw it finished, I knew I had made the right decision. It was a reminder every day of how lucky I truly am.
When I walked out and saw Sienna already at the desk paying, I gave her a very disapproving look. That's not how I do dates. I let it go though, knowing it wasn't that big of a deal to her and I didn't want to spoil the fun of the night with it.
As soon as we made it back to the truck, she showed me her arm where the new ink adorned a small part of her right wrist. I found it crazy that without even commenting on it we both got them on the same part of our body. "I love it, babe." She said when I let her see mine. She looked happy when looking at her wrist, and I felt my heart squeeze. Sure, she had plenty of tattoos, a lot about her past, and a couple about Eleanor and her son Jace but she seemed like this one was her favorite. The smallest tattoo she has on her body and it would be her favorite.
