Sienna
When we got to the emergency room, Ryan had taken El back immediately. They only had to look at her arm to see that it was, indeed, broken before saying they were sending her for X-rays to see how bad. I was still waiting to be taken back. They weren't busy from the outside looking in but I was a little irritable. I hated leaving El alone during this time, her first broken bone and I wasn't there to help her.
"Sienna Blaney?"
Standing up, I followed the dark-haired woman to a room behind the double doors. I had seen Ryan walking down the hall farther down with El at his side. "I'm Dr. Williams, I'll be looking over you today. What are we here for, Mrs. Blaney?" She sat down on the chair looking through her clipboard with papers on them before starting to check my blood pressure.
"Earlier I had fallen and hit my head. Then nausea started. My husband thinks I might have a concussion." She had taken out her little flashlight, shining it in my eyes to check my pupils.
"Okay, we can get you set up with an MRI to see." She wrote down some things, then asked about my weight and height before asking when my last period was. "I believe it was the twenty-fifth of September." I had to remember the days because my period had been much lighter than regular so I wasn't sure if I had it or not.
"Would you mind if we tested to know for sure?" She asked. I knew a lot of doctors liked to make certain that weren't involved so they could treat the patients correctly.
"Sure."
I had tried to ask the technician about my head scan when he was done but he didn't give away much on it, saying he just took the scans and didn't know what the pictures showed. That wasn't a big help to me. I was worried about it, though. A concussion was serious. The queasy feeling in my stomach had subsided for the time being, and thankfully I didn't have any headaches or light aversions. So those symptoms hadn't started.
As I sat in the light blue room again, waiting on the results of both my test and scan, I had been looking at my phone. Erin had sent a message asking if we had made it back into a room yet or if we had heard anything.
I felt bad for her. She hadn't seen my truck pull in but when she saw Ryan pull into her driveway and hop out as quick as he could, she nearly ran out the door to see what was going on. Then seeing Eleanor's arm the way it was as we put her into the backseat of Ryan's truck, I was sure she would have passed out. I gave her an update, letting her know we were separated at the moment but I would see them soon.
A knock on the door had me locking my phone and stuffing it away in my back pocket.
"Well, we have good news, a negative and a positive. You're MRI came back completely negative. No sign of any concussion. However you're pregnancy test came back positive, the nausea feeling you had was most likely your first look of morning sickness."
I must have been looking at her like she had three heads because she smiled warmly at me. I knew that we had been trying, I just figured we'd have months of trying. But as I remembered that first night after our wedding, I wouldn't have been surprised if there was more than one. Yeah, it doesn't work that way.
"I can have my nurse give you a list of obstetricians so you can go from here."
Agreeing with what she said, even though I didn't listen to her talk. I was too lost in my thoughts. I knew I had been extra emotional with the whole Eleanor episode and what I thought was my period was very well just implantation bleeding. The more I thought about it, the more everything seemed to make even more sense. My heart squeezed when I thought about telling Ryan. He was going to be so happy.
Although, I probably should wait and tell him after this weekend, give Eleanor some time to adjust to her cast, and let Ryan focus on Talladega. It was already a crazy, aggravating race and I didn't need his mind to be anywhere else but focused.
Ryan
If these past few days had been any indication of how Talladega would go, I should probably just part it on pit road and not even try it. The only good thing that had come out of it was that Sienna was cleared of any signs of a concussion. Or that's what the scan said but I was still skeptical. Sometimes things didn't show right away. She seemed to be okay, even when we had taken the flight down to Alabama.
Eleanor on the other hand had been even more clingy with me. After she got her cast on for the stable fracture and would get it taken off in just a few short weeks, she never left my side. I don't think I had been so scared in my life. Both my girls were hurt and I could only be there for one at a time.
Then after we got to the track, everyone saw the bright pink cast on El's arm and had to see if she was okay. Once Chase found out his buddy had been hurt, he was over that night to make sure everyone was okay. He was even the first person, other than me and Sienna, to sign Eleanor's cast.
"Daddy, can we get some ice cream?" El asked when we got to our motorhome. Sienna had set down what she had been carrying, telling us she had to go to the bathroom before rushing off. I tried not to think of anything because it was a pretty long car ride here but I could have sworn I had heard her gagging on the way to the bathroom.
"Yeah, let's wait on mommy first. See if she'd like anything."
She didn't seem to like waiting but did it patiently. Even if she did give a little huff when she sat down at the table. "Does Mommy not like spending time with me anymore?" I almost didn't hear her. Caught a bit off guard at her question, I made sure to sit in front of her so she can see me.
"Why do you think that? You know you are your mother's world." I took her left hand in mine. Giving it a squeeze to try and make her feel better.
"Ever since we got hurt, Mommy hasn't been herself. She's always in the bathroom or sleeping. I just thought that maybe she was mad at me for what happened."
Her eyes shinned with tears. I had just opened my mouth to tell her that she was loved so much but Sienna's voice beat me to it. "Eleanor Jane, I could never be mad at you for what happened. Don't you ever think I don't want to spend time with you." Seeing Eleanor perk up the way she had when she heard those words was all I needed to smile again. Sienna could never be mad at her. Eleanor is her baby. I just wonder if Eleanor would understand that if there is another sibling for her, she will still be her mom's baby too.
I know she had been dropping hints about wanting a baby brother or sister since way before Sienna and I were engaged. And I was so ready to make that wish come true, but it had only been one month of trying. I had been bummed when Sienna had told me that it didn't happen the first time but that just meant more alone time together. I know I hadn't said anything but I was more down because Cale had let it slip that he and Emma were expecting again. The excitement he had on his face was something I was dying to know. When he realized he had messed up, he told me that they were waiting to tell everyone and not to say anything.
"Hey, Ry." Sienna placed her hand on my shoulder. "You ready to get that ice cream now?" She continued. Eleanor's face was replaced with her flashing teeth from how hard she was smiling. "Of course, got to get my banged-up girls a treat."
