Third Person

The reunion between the pair had been cut short when it was decided that they would need to deliver the babies through a cesarean delivery. Even though Sienna had originally thought that the car accident was horrible and put her in the hospital with labor pains, it was a blessing in disguise as both babies had started to move head down, and one of the twins was wrapped around her umbilical cord.

Sienna cried when the flashbacks came in waves of her first baby with whom she had the same complications. Her mind raced with every single thought of what she could have done differently. On the other hand, Ryan was worried about what was to come. Lisa talked to Sophia early after the grandparents had arrived behind the ambulance. She was horrified to hear what happened. The plan was Sophia would keep Eleanor for however long she needed, and bring her over to meet her new siblings. Not telling her about the accident until a later time.

When the papers were signed, Sienna was set up with a spinal block to numb her from the chest down. She was so nervous about this, having heard all of the horror stories from people; even hearing the good ones didn't seem to help change her mind. While the anesthesia was taking its course, Ryan tried to calm his wife's jitters while the nurses set up the room. His sweet words did the trick when she was laid down and set into position, she was much calmer.

The procedure was underway with everybody washed up and in their scrubs and everything ready for the two newest additions. There was little talk as the crew worked together after the first incision. Ryan wasn't sure if he wanted to watch them cutting into his wife so to be safe, he watched her face; talking to her to help her ease through the pressure she was feeling.

The first cry that was heard caught Ryan off guard causing him to look up and see his son being handed to a nurse.

"First baby is a boy, born at two on the dot. Would the dad like to cut the cord?" In a daze, Ryan followed the words of the assistant surgeon. Sienna's eyes glistened as the same assistant that helped Ryan brought her son closer, his lungs were fully developed and being put to use at the moment.

But the moment they got started getting her baby girl, her heart dropped. Please be okay. Please. Please. The words seemed to flow in a rhythm in Sienna's mind. She tried to block out the surgeon's words, knowing he was just saying what he was doing and seeing, but it was still tough to think about.

"Second baby is out. A girl born at two twelve." His voice was strained, knowing that the baby wasn't crying. The room had gone silent other than the nurses working furiously to get the baby's airway clear.

After a long minute, the sound of her wails was heard, and a collective sigh going around.

Ryan

I held onto my son and daughter after they were both brought back into the room a little while before Sienna was brought back. She had wanted to hold them but was still weak from the surgery and was advised to wait just a couple more hours. The nurse had come in to collect the information for the birth certificate.

Our phones were buzzing non-stop with messages and questions if everything was okay, but we were going to make an announcement soon; after both of our families met our babies.

Erin had taken many photos to send to Emma, who was disappointed that she wasn't here, and to William, who was ecstatic that Sienna and the twins were healthy and doing fine. He promised not to say anything, even keeping the news from Chase and Bubba until we were ready. I could not thank him enough for that.
