Stepping onto the train this time felt very different. I was taller, for starters, but that was just the basics. I felt a different vibe while walking onto the train. I couldn't quite tell what it was. It just felt like this year was going to be different.

I sat in a compartment waiting for the others to join. After about fifteen minutes, Blaise walked in and sat down across from me.

"Hey, Y/n. How's it going? How was your summer?" He took off his jacket and put it on the rack above our heads.

"Hey, Blaise. It's alright, boring summer though. I read, so it makes it worth it."

"Anything good?"

"Too many to list. How about you?"

"I went to Paris, then took a train to Florence, just to get that real authentic feel, you know?"

"For sure, yeah."

"Oh, I almost forgot." He reached into the pocket in his pants and tried to look for something. He pulled out a small box and handed it to me. "Mum picked it up in Milan. She said it was perfect for you. I agreed although in all honestly, I know nothing about jewelry." He laughed a little to himself.

I opened the box and inside was a green emerald gem wrapped by a silver snake. It was beautiful.

"Thank you, Blaise. I'll send your mum an owl when we get to school thanking her too." Blaise's mum has always been very close to me. Blaise and I grew up practically as siblings. We were always hanging out way before we even went to Hogwarts. Our parents were very close friends when they went to school. I still spend time with them over holidays which is always fun. I didn't get to this year due to him traveling all summer and my lack of.

My parents felt as though me staying at home for "bonding" would be a good idea. It was my dad's idea really, yet he spent most of the summer out of town to business meetings or at the ministry. Mum and I hung around in the garden. We spent a few days out at the Malfoy Manor. Mum and Narcissa were good friends. I went because I didn't want to be in the house all alone. It was boring and terribly dreadful.

Just then, Pansy walked into the compartment and sat down next to me.

Pansy and I were friends. Not as long as Blaise or as close as he and I, but good friends. We met first year when we got sorted into the same house. She was all about knowing what's going on which always kept me up to date on what's going on around the castle. It's sort of like my own personal Daily Prophet which contained school drama, and solely that.

I liked Pansy though. She kept me company and she's been my roommate every year and she sure keeps things exciting. Never a dull moment with her.

The only bad thing I can think of about her is that she was and possibly still is, absolutely obsessed with Malfoy. Since second year, she's been trying to get with him, but she hasn't succeeded. On multiple occasions, she's come crashing into our dorm, crying about how Draco threw her out of his dorm. Asking me why he doesn't like her, as if I had any answers to give her. I can't see into that lunatic's head. And speak of the devil.

In marches Draco Malfoy, in the flesh, and sits down right next to Blaise.

Now I've never had serious reason to hate Draco, no. Sure he let Pansy off pretty harshly but to be fair, he did try multiple times to do it nicely. He's stuck up and spoiled. He got everything he ever wanted and was always threatening to tell his father about anything we did wrong. He was closed off and kind of a jerk, but I'm sure he has his reasons. Not that I could ever be sure because he would have to open up about it and it just doesn't seem likely.
