"I can't believe you still have to attend these things even though you almost died," I complained, zipping up the back of an all-black dress I owned. Draco was tightening his tie in the mirror as I talked about how unfair everything was.

"That was three days ago, you're being dramatic. Madam Pomfrey said I was fine." I rolled my eyes at him.

"This is coming from the same kid who laid in the hospital wing for two days because he fell off his broom second year. Pretty sure Madam Pomfrey said you were fine then too." I crossed my arms across my chest and stared at him. He turned around with his head tilted and an annoyed expression all over my face.

"It's either I go, or I die. Which would you prefer, huh?" He faced the mirror again and flipped the collar of his shirt down, making final adjustments to his tie and grabbing his jacket.

"Don't talk like that." I held my hand out to him and he took it reluctantly, lacing his fingers with mine. He apparated the both of us to the Malfoy Manor and walked to the front door hand in hand.

"Hello you two, how are you?" Narcissa greeted, opening the door.

"As fine as we can be, mum," Draco said, fiddling with his tie. Narcissa put her hands on Draco's and pulled his hand away from his neck. I knew he was nervous and never liked these meetings, and I felt terrible. Narcissa drew her attention to me and gave me a sorry look. She opened her arms wide and brought me into a tight hug, causing my hand to fall out of Draco's grip.

"Dearest Y/n, how are you feeling." She rocked me side to side slightly, not wanting to let go.

"I'm alright, Mrs. Malfoy." I gave her a fake smile, hoping she couldn't see right through me. She held onto my arms and tight, may I add.

"I'm very truly sorry my dear," she whispered, leaning into me.

"Okay, mum, let her breath." Draco walked up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. Narcissa nodded and gave me a smile before walking away.

"Okay, my turn," Draco said before wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to him.

"You just told your mom to let me breathe," I retorted, questioning him.

"She was getting all your attention and I wanted it." He moved his right hand to the back of my head and I felt him kiss the top of my head, smoothing my hair with his thumb.

"You were jealous?" I looked up at him and he squinted his eyes at me. "Mind your business," he snapped.

"Isn't it my business though?" He ignored me and grabbed my hand, dragging me towards the doors. He took a deep breath before entering and I did too. My first death eater meeting after being tied up by these very people. He looked down at me and gave a slight nod before turning the handle and pushing open the door.

"Welcome. Your places, I suppose you know them," Voldemort hissed, hovering his arms over the table. I saw my mum and dad sitting at the edge of the table where I had seen them last time. Neither of them even tried to look at me, probably ashamed. They didn't have an empty seat next to them, but Narcissa did, she had two. One for Draco and one for me. He held onto my hand and led us over to her, sitting beside her.

"Let's hear some updates, shall we? Draco," Voldemort boomed, turning his attention over to us. Draco looked up at him and bowed his head.

"Yes, my Lord," he spoke barely above a whisper.

"Your tasks. How are they? Nearly finished like the last time you reported?" He laughed to himself which was a terrible laugh. Raspy and jagged.

"Y-yes, my Lord. The cabinet is almost done. I promise." He tried to look up from the table but I could tell it was difficult. I looked at Voldemort who had his head tilted back slightly while still looking down at Draco. "He tells the truth," he confirmed. "Good. And now how's your second task? It's not done, that I know."
