"Y/n look out!"
I ducked down and watched how Nagini, that stupid fucking snake that lurks around Voldemort's ankles, jumped over me and fell on the ground.
"Why is that thing here?" Blaise whined, backing up and pulling out his wand. He cast "stupefy" and threw Nagini down the hall. She slithered away from us and left us alone. Draco walked over to me and offered his hand, pulling me up.
Another section of the castle collapsed and caused the halls to shake. We all crouched down and tried to keep our balance.
"Can't we just go to the Manor?" Blaise suggested. "If we find Luna, we can all go back to the Manor and be safe-"
"What are you chicken?" I turned to Blaise and raised my brows. "We're not leaving everyone here. We are students of Hogwarts, we can't just leave-AH!" I covered my ears. A loud, hissing sound had filled the halls. The sound bounced off the walls and echoed around. Draco squeezed his eyes shut out of pain and Blaise moved his neck around, unsettled.
"What on earth is that sound?" Blaise complained, covering his ears as well.
"It's Parseltongue you bloody git," Draco told him, sneering. Blaise tightened his jaw and his fists.
"Both of you stop it!" I yelled, holding my hands out in front of me. Both of them turned to look at me and dropped their shoulders. "People are dying every second and you two are squabbling like children. I don't know if you've noticed, although it's hard to miss, but we're not children anymore. Focus on winning." Lavender's face flashed in my mind. Her pale face and vacant expression cause little tears to form in my eyes. "Or even just staying alive."
"Y/n-"
"No, Blaise, no. Don't even try to reason with me right now, you know I'm right." My voice was strong and direct. "I may not want to die but I also don't want to sit around doing nothing. I don't want to hide in this corridor and let other people fight for us. So get yourselves together and let's fucking go." I held my wand tightly in my hand and walked down the hall, breathing in deep.
The castle shook again and pieces of rock fell down from the ceiling. I held onto the wall for support and continued to move forward. I heard the boys behind me, the sound of stones moving from under their feet echoing through the hall. I tried to make my way to the Great Hall where I figured most of the battle was being fought. The death eaters were making their way over the bridge last time I saw them, and it led out to the courtyard.
I rounded the end of the hall and saw a bright flash of light fly towards me. I shut my eyes tight and inhaled sharply, thinking of the worst. I felt a hand wrap around my arm and pull me back, hiding me behind a wall. My eyes flickered open and Draco stood in front of me, his chest pressed against mine, short breaths leaving his lips. He faced away from me, looking at the destruction the spell had caused. His face turned to look at me, his face so close to mine that I felt his breath on my cheek.
"Darling, can you maybe not be so reckless?" Draco breathed out. I nodded my head and took a deep breath in.
"I don't mean to interrupt but it sounds like they could really use our help out there," Blaise cut in, pointing down the hall. I looked over to see Ginny Weasley stalking backward, her wand at the ready. A death eater came into view and I held my wand in their direction.
"Incendio!" I called out, hitting the death eater and causing them to blow up in flames, running away. I ran over to Ginny and Blaise and Draco followed. I grabbed Ginny and we ran into the courtyard, examining her and making sure she wasn't hurt.
