bloody place on fire

The green light broke through the barrier and broke the tip off a building. I watched it crumble and fall into the courtyard, nearly crushing a kid to death. I heard shouting and watched the thousands of death eaters come running towards the castle, their wands in the air. I was terrified of what their plan was and I wasn't thinking. I turned around and stepped without looking, my foot slipping off the edge. I grabbed onto a stone in the step but it gave away and I felt my foot hit the roof below me. It's slated edge begging for me to fall.

DRACO'S POV

I had left Y/n to try and get my wand back from Potter. I figured it would have been easy; to just get my wand back, but it was everything but. I took Blaise and Goyle with me as backup in case anything happened. Potter was in the Room of Requirement and I found him easy enough. I thought I was stern and straight to the point.

"You have something of mine; I'd like it back."

Potter went on to expose me, to tell everyone how I didn't rat him out at the Manor. I didn't even get a chance to think before Weasley ran after me, yelling about his girlfriend or something. Goyle, the blood git, turned around and tried to cast Incendio in an attempt to get Weasley off our backs, but it went horribly wrong and he set the bloody place on fire. Stacks of tables and chairs, wooden bird cages, and notebooks all went up in flames.

"Stop the spell, Goyle, you're going to kill us all!"

"I can't, Malfoy, my wand won't stop!" Goyle complained. Blaise went up to him and ducked several flames shooting at him. He got a hold of the wand and broke it in two, stopping the spell for good.

The flames kept growing, consuming the majority of the room. The three of us tried to get to higher ground, trying to save ourselves. We started climbing a stack of desks and tables, Blaise beside me and Goyle coming up after us. Goyle grabbed for a chair and it let go underneath him, sending him down into the fire. Blaise and I both watched in horror but continued to climb so we didn't meet the same fate.

We reached the top and stood on the table, trying to look for the exit. It was too far and the entire entrance was on fire, providing no opportunity for an escape.

We felt a whoosh above our heads and looked up to see Potter and his two friends soaring on broomsticks. Blaise stepped back at the sudden noise and tilted the table just a little too much, pushing it out from under us. We both fell and grabbed onto the table for dear life. Our feet dangled right above the flames of death.

I watched Potter turn around and fly straight towards us, reaching his hand out. I tried to grab on but missed, rocking the table a little more. I was worried Potter was going to give up after that, but he came back around because he just has to be the hero. He reached his hand out for me once more and pulled me up, throwing me on the back of his broom. I held onto him for dear life. I looked over at Zabini who clutched onto Weasley's waist.

Potter flew fast and furiously towards the entrance, throwing the doors open and causing us all to tumble off the brooms and onto the floor. I was too busy trying to figure out if I was severely damaged or not to pay attention to the three of them, circled around a blue crown-looking thing. Harry stabbed the damn thing with a tooth and launched it into the flames, shutting the doors and sighing out with relief.

I stood up to check on Blaise and he seemed alright. He coughed the soot out of his lungs but was able to walk and talk.

"Thank you. All of you," he said, very polite of him. I mumbled a thank you of my own and apparated Blaise and me to the Astronomy Tower; to where I left Y/n.

Once we landed on our feet, I found the entire platform empty. I ran down the stairs and the storage beneath was also empty. I looked over the railing into the courtyard and found nothing but people running around like ants.
