I woke up the next morning with Draco's arms still wrapped around me. I looked down at him and smiled, glad that he was able to go to sleep. I tried carefully to get his arms off of me so that I could get up. He shifted around slightly as I picked his arm up, but then he settled down and I got his arm off of me completely.
I walked over to the wardrobe to find something to wear. I had finished all of my work luckily because I didn't have the right energy to do it today. I just wanted to sit by the Black Lake and read. It was one of my reading spots around the castle. I specifically went to that one a few times a month, usually during sunrise or sunset so I can watch the sun glow on the water
I knew the merpeople couldn't hurt me while on land, but I still felt uneasy about going back so soon, and a real shame because I loved it there. I had dreamed of swimming in the dark water while reading out there, and the reason we went that night.
I picked out a fitting black long sleeve shirt and a dark blue plaid pleated skirt. I took my clothes to the bathroom to change. Tucking the shirt into the waist of the skirt, I walked back out to look at myself in the full body mirror Pansy was always admiring her outfits in.
I turned around but looked over my shoulder to check if the shirt was bunchy or if the skirt was stuck on something. I heard a light laugh come from behind me. I looked in the mirror and saw Draco sitting up on my bed. I quickly turned around to face him.
"Oh, don't stop on my account" he smirked. I rolled my eyes at his remark.
"You're impossible" I scoffed, turning to grab my cardigan off the chair beside the mirror.
"Hey, I'm just saying," he put his hands up in defense.
"Right then, well I'm going to go down to the Great Hall, alright?" I told him, grabbing my bag and putting it over my shoulder. I rustled around in it, looking for my book. Well, that could be problematic.
"Alright then, let's go." He got up off my bed and started to walk towards the door. I looked up from my bag to notice him waiting for me to start walking as well.
"Draco, in the nicest way possible, you still smell a little like lake water," I informed him, looking back down into my bag, trying so desperately to find the book.
"Ah, I see. I'll go shower then and meet everyone in the Great Hall-what on earth are you looking for?" He had transitioned so smoothly from one sentence to the other that I hadn't even realized it happened.
I looked up at him looking at me for an answer. "What happened?"
"That's exactly what I'm trying to find out."
"My book is missing. I thought it was in my bag. I remember it being in my bag." I started to look around the room for it, thinking maybe I misplaced it somehow. I put my bag down and walked over to the shelves I had.
"Why don't you ask Pansy, maybe she knows," Draco offered.
"Can't," I answered shortly.
"And why not?"
"Cause Pansy didn't come back last night." I continued looking as I talked, paying very little attention to what he was saying to me. I was searching the shelves where my other books are held, thinking I might have used a cleaning charm that accidentally took the book.
"Why are you saying that so casually?"
"She's always sleeping over with McLaggen. She'll be back later, but only to go back out," I explained.
"How did you let her get with a Gryffindork?" he complained.
"Believe me, I don't exactly want this for her either, but she says she has it under control and she seems relatively happy. Now quit whining and look for my book." He groaned but started to look around anyway.
