"Draco. Where is Draco?" Someone, please tell me he isn't dead. We won, I saw it."

"Please, don't get so worked up. You must rest right now." Madam Pomfrey's voice was strained and I could tell she was trying to hold down whoever was causing a scene.

"I can't. Someone tell me where he is." I didn't understand what I had to do with any of this. Was it not enough of a bad day already? I knew I wasn't supposed to, but I started to run anyways. I ran towards the end of the wing, nearing the last divider on the left-hand side.

"Somebody stop him!" Molly cried out from behind me. Fred ran out and tried to catch me but I ducked down and slipped through his arms. George tried the same and just like his brother, he failed to catch me.

It was Y/n's voice, her soft little voice; how did they expect me to stay away. I neared the last divider and saw a glimpse of her hair peeking out from behind Madam, trying so desperately to get off of the bed.

"Please, you must stay in bed," Madam tried to reason, but Y/n kept thrashing around trying to get out of bed. Madam whipped her head around to me and sighed, probably realizing there was only one option. "Mister Malfoy, have her lay down, it's crucial." I nodded before weaving my way around Madam, making my presence known to Y/n. Her face turned to me and her eyes locked into mine. She was still fairly pale but no longer grey. Her eyes sparkled in the light but only because they were so glossed over with tears.

"Y/n, my love, please," I spoke softly, trying to ease her. She gently started to sink back into the mattress as I came closer. "Good girl lay down. You need to rest."

"Draco, what's going on?" she asked, her voice soft and low. I grabbed onto her hand and wrapped my fingers around it. "Why am I here? Why are they treating me like this?" I lowered myself closer to her, kneeling on the ground beside her bed.

"I don't know-"

"Yes, you do-"

"No. I don't." I glanced over my shoulder at Madam Pomfrey who stood at the edge of Y/n's bed, grasping onto the railing. "What happened to her?" She sighed at my question and walked over to Y/n's other side, standing opposite of me.

"You were practically dead, my dear. We couldn't think of anything else because all life was almost completely drained from you. We used unicorn blood to try and save you-"

"What?!" Y/n shot up from her bed and stared straight at Madam Pomfrey. Madam stepped back at the sudden jolt and I reached for Y/n's waist, trying to lay her back down.

My brows furrowed and I bit the inside of my cheek. "Madam, the blood of a unicorn promotes an inevitably cursed life. Y/n will never make it with a curse like that."

"Please, allow me to explain." Madam looked down at her hands before taking a deep breath and starting to speak again. "It was the blood of someone who had used unicorn blood to stay alive. It's almost like a loophole. The unicorn blood had cursed the past bearer but it won't curse you. I promise."

Y/n's gaze was locked on Madam and it was intense. "Where did you find someone who had unicorn blood in their veins?" she asked, demanding an answer. Madam looked around, nervously picking at her nails. I stood up, still holding onto Y/n's hand, and faced Madam.

"Whose was it?"

"It's best if you didn't know-"

"Whose was it?"

Madam was still hesitant, biting the inside of her cheek and looking around frantically. "It was Voldemort's," she finally breathed out. "He was the only person we knew who had unicorn blood in his system. If there was another option then we would've-"
