Y/N'S POV
"There has to be something we can do right?" I sat on the top of my desk as Draco sat on my trunk, his head in his hands.
"There's no we in this, Y/n. I'm not letting you get involved in an assassination." He kept his head down.
"Draco-"
"No Y/n! Fucks sake, no." He shot up and stared into my eyes. Even from across the room I felt intimidated. "You may have talked your way into helping me with the cabinet, but this is different. This is dangerous."
"All I ever am is in danger!" I yanked my left sleeve up and held my arm out in front of me. "Look at my arm, Draco, look at it." His gaze slowly drifted down before looking back at my eyes. "This is dangerous. I am constantly in danger. Now stop being a baby, sit down and talk this through with me." My voice had raised louder than I had intended and Draco sat down, his forearms resting on his knees. "Now how does one go about killing someone else? Poison maybe-"
"Didn't work," he mumbled.
"Maybe if we try again then-"
"No, Y/n, it's not going to work." He got up and slowly came closer to me. I tried to look around and think of another way, but I couldn't.
"Well maybe if we try-"
"No. It won't work, don't you understand?" He was speaking lowly and held onto my hands, letting them stay between us. He ran his thumbs over the backs of my hands as he looked down at them. "You and I both know the only way this will work."
"No. No no, Draco no." I looked down at the floor and felt my breath quicken. I felt lightheaded and I tried to wipe my face, but Draco kept my hands steady between us.
"Y/n, it's the only way. There is nothing else that is going to work. We can't leave it up to chance that our little traps are going to get to him... Y/n look at me." He moved my hands and caused me to look up into his grey eyes. He had given up trying, I could tell. He knew there was no other way, and so did I, but I didn't want it to be like that.
"There must be another way." He sighed as I spoke and looked around the room to calm himself.
"There isn't. We both know that." He moved in closer and brought our hands up. "We both know I have to use the spell." I felt my eyes start to hurt, a sharp pain coming from the backs of them. I didn't want to cry. Not now.
The door slammed open and both Draco and I jumped at the sudden sound. "Merlin's BEARD does Fred know how to- oh shit. Were you guys in the middle of something?" We both had our heads turned to the door where Pansy was, leaning her arms up against the wall for support.
"No, we were just finished," Draco murmured, grabbing his bag from the top of my trunk.
"Honestly, if you guys were in the middle of something I can just leave because I-" Pansy turned around to point at the door, stumbling a little, but Draco came closer to her and leaned in.
"We're fine, Pansy." He had caught her off guard and she was thrown back. He was frustrated with the fact that he had a terrible task, and a clearly drunk Pansy was sending him over the top. "Fuck," he mumbled, pushing past Pansy and through the door.
"Whoa okay, so I learned today not to fuck with Ferrett boy when I make him lose his chance at getting some." Pansy moved farther into the room as I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"It wasn't like that Pans, we were just talking." I sat on my bed as she followed suit.
"Yeah, but it was like that for me. You see Fred and I did body sho-"
