I awoke to the blinding sunlight bleeding through the blue curtains and shining on me. Fortunately, my vision was hazy so it didn't bother me too much.
Still tired. Maybe I should sleep a bit longer.
I closed my eyes and rolled over. That is until I felt my arms hit something. I stopped.
I opened my eyes to see none other than Eris occupying half my bed. Well I guess it's technically hers.
She still had her blue kimono on as well as her blue bow. Her hair was surprisingly kempt, avoiding a case of bed hair that just about anyone else would likely suffer.
I quickly sat up.
Miss Mya, I called.
Good morning Arthur, She greeted.
What happened last night?
Why, whatever do you mean?
Don't lie to me. I know you were awake when she came in. Why is she here?
Hmph, you're no fun.
I just want to kill any misunderstandings before Mary and Tucker inevitably break down my door and witness this situation.
Don't be such a worrywart.
Miss Mya please.
Fine, fine. While you were sleeping, she waltzed in, half-asleep and crawled into your bed. Nothing more, nothing less. Happy?
Not really, but at least I have somewhat of an alibi.
Somewhat? She questioned.
I doubt Tucker and Mary have that much faith in your words.
Fortunately, even if they don't believe in my words, they believe in yours.
I didn't want to think about the obvious underlying meaning behind that.
I shook Eris' body to wake her up, only to be surprised how light she is. Without a little more force I probably would've accidentally knocked her off the bed.
"Arthur?" She looked at me half-asleep. "What are you doing in my bed?"
"Eris, this is my bed." I started to explain.
"Huh? Wuhya mean?"she asked in a drowsy tone as she sat up. Her eyes opened a bit more and after seeing my bag, which Mary no doubt dropped off in here, she realized it was indeed my room.
"Oh. Hm."
"So" I started.
"Good night." She attempted to drop back down but unfortunately for her my reaction timing has only gotten better recently. I caught her mid-fall; admittedly, she didn't look very surprised. Was she expecting me to do that?
"Arthurrr, I'm tryna sleep, ya know."
"Why not sleep in your own room?" I asked. "Why here?"
She mumbled something I couldn't hear.
"What was that?"
"I had a nightmare." She said in a soft tone. The usual happy persona I was shown yesterday was replaced by a nervous, vulnerable girl who refused to lock eye contact.
Don't do that Eris. You're making it hard for me to see you as the psychotic, unstable little girl you are.
I sighed and sat back. "Would you mind telling me your dream?" I thought about it and realized how insensitive that may sound. "Ah, only if you want to of course."
"I-I think I was six or seven. I was running around downstairs looking for my mama but I couldn't find her anywhere. I was about to give up and start crying when I heard a sound in the kitchen. Hoping it was her, I hurried inside. But..."
