Eris' wings flapped again and another gust of wind shot around her. The force of it was somehow stronger than the last and nearly knocked me onto the ground.

"Eris?" I called out to her.

Her eyes stayed locked onto me but she didn't respond.

A sense of gloom and hopelessness fell over me. I struggled to shake it off.

Miss Mya, what is happening?

The worst possible result, she replied. You've woken up the gatekeeper.

Gatekeeper?

I guess for you humans, this would be something of an extra boss stage.

That's...not reassuring at all.

But to think the jerk actually accepted it...He really hates me, doesn't he? She laughed.

I wanted to ask what she was talking about but Eris didn't allow me the time for that. All it took was one blink for her to magically appear in front of me. I had no time to react; I was wide open.

Luckily Mary was nearby and immediately launched an assault on her. Eris tried to smack Mary away with her white wing but she ducked and shot straight for her chest with a knife.

Eris swiped the air, creating a wave of white light in its path. Mary was forced to retreat and jumped back.

I took this opportunity to grab Sophia's knife and coordinate my attack with Tucker, who was running up on her. I aimed for her neck, only for her to just barely dodge by taking a step back. I figured it was fine since she was wide open for Tucker to hit her with a roundhouse kick. Unexpectedly however, she disappeared out of thin air.

"What the?" Tucker said, confused.

Seconds later, Tucker let out a shriek as Eris appeared behind him. Her black wing knocked him away, but not before she grabbed him with a hand made out of light. She spun him around and chucked him directly above her, where Ainia and Baihu, who was now normal sized, were coming down for a sneak attack. Tucker smacked right into Ainia, and she fell off Baihu. Ainia somehow managed to land on her feet and even caught Tucker.

Baihu, who couldn't stop if he wanted, tried to pounce on Eris. She casually sidestepped his attack and counter attacked by launching a giant fist from above him. Luckily Baihu is light on his feet and swiftly evaded it, stopping by Tucker and Ainia.

The fist vanished, revealing the ground destroyed and concrete scattered along the ground.

We can't even touch her.

She turned back to me and charged at me with fast skip steps. Before I had a chance to do anything, I was yanked away. This let me dodge Eris' strike easily.

It turned out to be Clarissa, who shoved me behind her before gunning at Eris. She threw what looked like a rock at her, which she smacked away with one of her wings. Clarissa feigned a kick by lifting up her leg, prompting Eris to block. Clarissa, as if expecting this, pivoted and high kicked her chin.

Did she just beat her?

"Nice one!" Tucker yelled.

However our celebration was cut short. Eris teleported mid knock back. This time she appeared in front of me, a spear of light charged up.

You can't die, my mother whispered.

I temporarily lost control of my body. I shifted towards the left and narrowly avoided death, although it did knick my cheek. A trail of crimson red ran down my cheek but the cut quickly closed. I threw my dagger to my left hand and sliced at her but I somehow slipped and fell to the ground instead. The worst part is the way I fell, it knocked the wind out of me, leaving me feeling too exhausted to move.
