Eris stretched her wings out wide and let off another wave of darkness, brainwashing the few stragglers who were immune to the previous wave into kneeling and praying. For some reason it didn't affect us though.
I ran back to the rest of them as they hopped off of Baihu.
"The heck is that?" Tucker asked.
"I don't know but Miss Mya said it's really bad," I said.
Tucker frowned. "Well duh, I could've told you that."
"How do we even reach her now?" Clarissa asked.
Good question. It's not like we can fly.
I felt a wave of strife befall me, only to turn and realize that Eris was now looking at me. Not us; specifically me.
I guess I am the one with a target on my back after all.
"Insolent mortals. For belittling and flaunting your arrogance towards the goddesses, in the name of Archìa and Telàis, I curse thee to disablement! You will learn respect." Eris rose her left hand up and out came two streams of concentrated black mist. It steadily got faster as it descended; it was aimed directly at me and Tucker. We tried to run but by the time we reacted it was already at our location.
Unexpectedly, Baihu jumped in the way, tanking both. On impact, the black mist touched his fur and seemingly disappeared. At first, it was like nothing happened. But as time went on, Baihu's legs became visibly wobbly and it was obvious he was struggling to stand. Eventually, he resigned to his fate and crashed on the ground with his head lying on his front paws.
"Foolish mutt." Eris berated him.
Ainia ran to him.
"What the heck was that?" Clarissa asked.
"A curse." Mary responded.
"A what?"
"Eris told us beforehand she has the ability to curse people." I interjected. "I guess this is what it looks like."
Clarissa sighed. "What have I gotten myself into?"
Ainia swiftly returned to us.
"How's he doing?" Clarissa asked.
"Says he can't stand up but he's fine for the most part."
And the pup is out of commission, Miss Mya said.
That's troubling. Baihu was Ainia's mobility.
"It's good to hear he's alright at least." I said.
Ainia nodded.
I glanced over where she just ran from and saw a distinct lack of giant white ligers in the area.
"Where is he?" I asked.
"Shrunk him and put him in pocket" Ainia responded. "Would probably be safer for him."
I nodded. "Yeah, it is."
"So bout' this flying dark angel thing that Eris has become, how we dealin' with it? Cuz, uh, I cant fly," Tucker noted.
"How do we get to her?" I asked.
Clarissa thought about it for a moment. "Ainia, go fill both your pockets with gravel." Clarissa commanded.
"Got it!" Ainia started running towards the wall she busted through earlier.
"Conjured up a plan?" I asked.
"A stupidly risky one that doesn't make sense." She responded. "But a plan nonetheless."
