I came to from my trance-like state to see Mary, who had her hair tied in a long ponytail. She was wearing a plain gray shirt with blue jeans on.
She was laying out a plate of food on my pillow that featured bacon, eggs, toast, and apple juice, which she set on the floor. Mary was as expressionless as always as she laid out the food but when she saw me looking at her she almost looked shocked. Almost.
"Welcome back, Young Master. Assuming you haven't eaten, I prepared some breakfast for you."
Realistically, I don't need to eat because of Miss Mya. But at the same time I don't want to reject the meal Mary went out of her way to make for me.
"Uhh, thank you Mary. How long have you been here?"
"Not long. A minute or two."
Had I not woken up, was she just going to set the food down and leave? She acted like this was normal.
"Where exactly did you get this? I can't imagine the Amazons have breakfast items on standby."
"They have a kitchen here which the energetic girl led me to."
I'll assume she means Ainia.
"And the food?"
"I happened to pack these items just in case."
Couldn't argue with that.
Mary bowed. "If you need anything else, I'll be right next door."
Well I guess I know who won between Tucker and Mary.
"Umm, Mary?" I blurted out.
She stopped and turned around. "Yes, is there something I can aid you with?"
"I just wanted to ask, did you not feel concern or see it as out of the ordinary when I was spaced out, I guess? It's not like I want to call attention to myself, I'm just surprised at your reaction, or rather, lack of reaction to it."
Mary looked at me with indifference. "Should I be concerned?"
That's a good question. Should she be concerned that I'm constantly talking to a demon created by the goddesses trapped inside a cursed weapon?
"...I don't know." I said, admittedly.
"To my knowledge, you being in that state often means you are conversing with the person inside that blade, am I wrong?"
I was at a loss for words. I don't think I ever told Mary about it. It's not like I was trying to keep it a secret but for Mary to find out was unexpected.
"I'll take your silence as a yes."
"How do you know about that? Did someone tell you?"
"If you mean Tucker, I happen to hear him mumbling about it and interrogated him only for him to confirm my already existing theories."
"Your theories?"
"Yes. Your recent attachment to the blade caught my interest, for one. If I'm not mistaken I believe you even bring it to dinner with you."
I laughed nervously. "Caught red handed."
"Not to mention I heard you mumble from time to time in your sleep the night after the weapon tried to take over the mansion while I was watching over you."
Watching over me? Like watching me while I slept? Is that why that random chair was near my window?
"I believe you mentioned a woman named Myala. Am I wrong?"
I sighed. "No, you're spot on. If anything, it's impressive that you managed to notice so much."
Mary bowed. "Thank you for your praise, young master. But some evidence was too blatant to ignore."
