The walk home wasn't as difficult as I expected it to be, mainly because Tucker quickly admitted he didn't know the way from where we were and let me use the GPS on my phone. Needless to say, I enjoyed the twenty minute walk home compared to the two hour journey I'm usually forced to deal with.
Most of our conversation on the way home was Tucker fantasizing what the other demon weapon users were like. For me at least, if Roxanne and the guy who attacked us are our examples, I'd rather not meet the rest.
"As far as power are concerned, in every group of people with super abilities, one of em' has to have the ability to fly or levitate," Tucker lectured.
"Flight sounds pretty basic though." I noted. "Not really flashy or cool."
"It's effective if anything."
"Is it?" I asked.
"It is. Take your power to take control of people, for instance. How would you get to someone who can fly?"
"Hm. Good question. That would be challenging. I can't really do anything if I can't cut you."
Tucker laughed. "And that's why I say your power feels incomplete."
"What? What do you mean incomplete?"
"It feels like a large oversight, don't you think? Especially considering these are weapons the goddesses themselves created. The guy who attacked us could bend laws to his will. Roxanne from what we've seen has super speed, summons fire, and can teleport. Doesn't it seem like your knife is kinda basic in comparison?"
"Huh, never thought about that."
"It almost feels like it's missing something." Tucker said.
"Something? Like what?"
"Dunno. It's missing some oomph."
"Oomph?"
"Yeah, ya know, a quirk about it that makes you say 'yeah, that's a demon weapon'."
You don't do anything else, do you Miss Mya?
If I did, the fight in the alley would've been considerably easier. Why, are you dissatisfied with me? She sighed. Grown bored with me already I see.
N-no I don't mean it like that...
Relax, I'm just teasing.
Please don't.
I'm quite happy with what I can do. I was never meant for direct confrontation. I win before the fight starts.
Too bad that doesn't help much against random ambushes.
Blame your brother for putting you in such a situation.
Cant argue against that.
For all that's happened today, it's astonishing it's still light outside. It feels like it should be nighttime by now but according to my phone it's only 4:38pm.
The front lawn of the mansion still had a few stragglers working, but for the most part it was barren, which was pretty normal around this time of day.
"I'ma go smack some losers in Tekken," was the first thing Tucker said upon entering the house. "I'll catch ya later."
"Cya." I said.
Tucker walked up the stairs with the face of a man determined to spend the next four or so hours clutching his controller. At least that means no one's going to be bothering me the rest of the day. At least that's what I thought.
I started making my way to the steps when a loud voice boomed in my ear.
"You!"
A familiar spiky brown haired boy was glaring at me from across the room and by the time I recognized who it was he was already sprinting over to me.
