{CHAPTER 3.}

Lydia:

Stefan and I had shooed Damon out of the living room so we could talk.

" So why did you come here for me Lydia?" He asked with his arms crossed.

" To be honest with you ... I just thought we could hang out maybe like, could you give me a tour around here?" I asked shyly.

" Yeah, of course. Do you have time right now?" He hesitated.

" Yeah, sure." I smiled.

We walked to the door, he opened it for me and I blushed feeling like a princess. I had to be home in the next hour and a half or so but, was I to tell Stefan this or not? I'll bring it up when the time is right. We walked through the quiet neighbourhood.

" So do you guys live with any other family in that house or is it just you two?" I asked referring to the boarding house.

" Our uncle used to live there but, he passed away." Stefan cleared his throat with discomfort.

" I'm sorry for your loss." I frowned.

" It's okay, it was two years ago." He brushed it off. "What about you?"

" I live with my parents, my older brother and younger sister. We're all a year apart from each other." I explained.

" That's cool, Damon and I are two years apart." He said.

We walked in a calm serenity that was relaxing, not awkward.

" Where are we going anyway?" I asked as I noticed we began heading in town. Alec was venturing here right now, hopefully I wouldn't bump into him too.

" Over there is the mayors office, and across the road here there's just the town clock." Stefan began.

" I like the clock. I seen it on the drive here." I commented.

" Around the corner there's a flower shop, a grocery store down that road and down the road going west, there's Mystic Falls high school." He was like a tour guide.

" It's small around here." I said looking up at the cable wires.

" Well, most of this town is covered by the forest." He said looking at me and shrugging.

" Oh. That's interesting." I nodded.

" There's also the Mystic Grill. My friends and I go there often too but, only when we're here because college is a little farther away." He explained.

" Oh, sounds fun." I said.

" Yeah, you wanna go check it out now? If you're comfortable though." Stefan looked at me with a grin.

" Let's head over." I said running through the street. Stefan followed me.

" Hey!" He called out chasing after me.

As we opened the doors to go inside, there was an aroma of alcohol and food. Some old music was playing in the background. Pool tables were set up too and a particular group caught my attention. They were laughing and cheering, looking like they were all truly having fun.

" Stefan!?" I heard a voice come from that same pool table. It was a girl with longish brown hair.

Stefan walked up to the group by the pool table and took me by the hand gently to meet them.

" What are you doing here? I'm surprised." The girl with the brown hair held a pool stick in her hand.

" Elena, I was in town nearly all summer." He smiled.
