The Newest Doppelgänger (The Vampire Diaries fan fiction)

On the Search for Two

{Chapter 17.}

Damon:

   
     I don't think I've ever done this much running around in my life, which says a lot because I'm immortal. My patience is wearing thin but, I'd do anything to help this girl find her brother. And Barbie too.

   I convinced Lydia to stay home with Blondie (Caroline) while Stefan and I run around Mystic Falls looking for wherever Alec and Elena could be. I mean, those two couldn't have gotten that far in a matter of hours right? Then again, both of them were vampires now. Yikes. 

   I stood in the Victorian gardens by the west side of the Mystic Falls waterfall. This was the last place I could look. Then Stefan appeared before my eyes but, it wasn't frightening.

" You again." I raised my eyebrows squinting at him.

" Where did you check?" He asked, hunching over out of breath.

" Everywhere. I've been searching nonstop for an hour Stefan." I frowned when his phone rang. If it was Lydia, she'd be disappointed that we haven't found Alec or Elena yet.

" Hello?" Stefan answered.

" Who is it?" I whispered but, he ignored me.

   There was some time before Stefan got off of the phone. He looked at me in the stressful way he always did but, it was more of a frown now.

" So what was that about?" I asked.

" It was Katherine." He raised his eyebrows.

" What?" I questioned. "Why did she call you?"

" Because she wants the moonstone, and she has Alec and Elena held hostage for it in the Whitemore doctors office." Stefan shook his head.

" I'll meet you there in a couple of minutes after I get Lydia." I waited for him to nod his head before going back to the boarding house.

   I paused at the driveway. Did Stefan just tell me that Katherine was in town?

Lydia:

     Caroline and I had been in the boarding house for the past hour, waiting for Stefan and Damon to return with stats on Alec and Elena. It was really stressing me out, what if we didn't find them or what if they actually ran away? There were so many reasons as to why they would run away rather than stay here.

" Calm down Lydia. You're making me worry." Caroline sat on a sofa near the fireplace in the main room while I paced around.

" I'm sorry Care, it's a habit." I bit my lip in anxiety.

   One second you heard the front door open and the next, Damon appeared in the centre of the main room. It was so sudden. I'd never get used to this vampire thing.

" Damon." I said, quite relieved.

" Yes. I'm here." He said with an exhale. "And I have some news."

" What is it, did you find Alec and Elena?" I asked anxiously.

" Sort-of." Damon twisted his mouth. "Elena's evil doppelgänger has them held hostage."

" Katherine again?" Caroline sighed and shook her head. "I thought she was dead already."

" Well, she's not." Damon swallowed.

" So she kidnapped them? Why would she want them?" I asked.

" There's no time to explain but, we should go." Damon grabbed my arm and dragged me towards the door.
