{Chapter 20.}
Lydia:
Damon and I entered the hall again. Hopefully Stefan would give us that flickering light signal soon. He explained to everyone that the plan would end with all the lights in the hall flickering and we'd all meet back at the boarding house.
On another note, I didn't bother to ask Damon what he was talking about before. I trust that when ever he's ready, he'll tell me what ever he wants to.
" So what now?" I asked.
" We wait." Damon grabbed two glasses off of a catering platter and handed me one.
" This is my fifth drink in the last two hours." I said, sipping from it anyway.
" Well this is my fifth drink in the last twenty minutes." Damon competed with a smirk.
" That's because you're Damon but, I am me and I'm not an alcoholic." I downed my drink.
" Touché." He narrowed his eyes and finished his drink. "Wanna dance?"
" Until we get the signal then, sure." I smiled as he took my hand and guided me to the dance floor.
We were starting to have fun again but, there was a a crowd gathering by the washrooms near the back. Nosily, I dragged Damon with me to follow the crowd. Weaving our way through the people, I could finally see what they were staring at. There was a body on the floor and a person hovering over it. Sheriff Forbes was there too and that was the worst part.
Elena:
There was a bunch of people watching him and all I could do was the same thing. It was so bad. Alec just stood there staring at the girl on the ground. He glanced my way but, I couldn't muster up the courage to go take him away. There were too many pairs of eyes here to make them all forget at once.
" Alec!" I covered my mouth in shock.
I knew I shouldn't have let him wonder here alone. Even if it was an actions as innocent as just going to the washroom. Now it was my fault that everyone here would see him as a criminal.
" What's going on over here?" Mayor Lockwood slivered through the crowd and covered his mouth at the sight of the disgrace.
The next thing I knew, Alec was gone. He had vanished as fast as the crowd had gathered and I had no idea where he had gone to. Following him, I flashed out too. Letting the newest vampire free wasn't on my to do list.
Stefan:
It was all just a bitter emptiness. It felt like I had nothing left in me to do what made me happy. Nothing could make me content anymore after Cassidy's violent passing.
I was there when she was killed. It was like a wrestle between two silhouettes, one of them I knew for sure was Katherine but, the other: I didn't know at all. So I left it and now I feel like I should tell someone about it.
" I'm ready now ..." Lydia's doppelgänger quietly stepped out of a room upstairs. She had on her purple long sleeved shirt, a pair of jeans and sneakers with her haired tied in a ponytail.
" Great." I smiled briefly at her and walked down the hall to the breaker panel on the wall. Grace followed.
" What's going on Stefan?" She asked in curiosity.
" I have to flicker the lights in the hall, it gives the group a signal that it's time for us to leave." I opened the small panel door then stopped in my tracks. "How do you know my name?"
