{Chapter 25.}

Lydia:
After a couple of days of nothing happening. Everything seemed normal and it was great, despite Elena telling me that Alec has been missing since the Founders day ball event. It was so weird not having him in the boarding house: things were quiet and I just missed my older brother. Although Grace really makes up for it because spending time with her is nicer than worrying.
Something else that bothers me is the fact that Stefan is slowly replacing Alec as Elena needs comfort. Things between them are getting close and I can't help but feel some type of jealous. Elena has Stefan and they're both happy being immortal. Two vampires can literally be together forever but, a human and a vampire can only be together for a limited amount of time.
Grace and I were the only ones in the boarding house at the moment as everyone went out for lunch. It was probably dangerous for two targets to be alone in an empty house but, I felt like we were suddenly in the clear.
" Lydia." Grace stepped into my room with a paper in her hands.
" What's up?" I stood up from my bed and tried to glance over her shoulder as she was reading the paper diligently.
" Oh my gosh." She looked at me confused and handed me the paper.
" Is it bad?" I asked, taking the paper.
" I- I don't know." She stuttered.
When I glanced at the paper, it was an adoption sheet.
" I don't get it?" I questioned, furrowing my eyebrows.
" This is an adoption sheet. It belongs to my parents so it has to be mine, why would someone have it here?" Grace looked heartbroken.
" I'm not sure. Maybe Stefan got a copy from Elijah and kept it here incase of anything." I said, unconvinced myself. "Where did you find this?"
" It was in the window of my room." She shrugged. "I'm pretty sure that my parents were the only people who had a copy of my adoption sheet Lydia. Who else would want it and why?"
" Sounds fishy to me Grace, I don't know." I handed the sheet back to her. "We aren't even sure if it's yours because there isn't a name on it."
" I guess so." She shrugged.
As the front door opened, we went downstairs and sure enough it was Damon.
" Back so quick. Is lunch over?" I asked.
" Nope. Stefan told me to keep guard at the house instead so I guess I'm stuck here." Damon smirked at me.
" Isn't that wonderful." Grace said sarcastically, going into the kitchen.
" What's that?" Damon appeared by my side, glancing at the paper.
" It's an adoption sheet that Grace found in her window." I said.
" Wait, why was it in her window?" He asked quietly.
" I don't know but, it doesn't have a name on it." I whispered as he inspected it.
It took me two seconds to realize that Damon had seen the sheet before. The way his eyes dilated, it made me know there was something coming.
" You recognize this sheet don't you?" I asked eagerly.
" Lydia." He stopped.
" Damon." I said.
Grace walked out of the kitchen with a glass of water.
