{Chapter 13.}
Lydia:
I couldn't believe what Gladys was saying right now. Was it really true? Did I have a doppelgänger? I had so many questions about her but, now wasn't the time to be curious. Now was the time to be serious because now everything had a meaning to it.
" So you don't actually know what's in my blood?" I asked still in shock.
" All I know is that it's special. Maybe it don't do nothin' special but, it's surely gonna get you in trouble." Gladys crossed her arms.
" Do you know where her doppelgänger is?" Damon asked in all seriousness.
" Is she a victim of Klaus too?" I asked.
" Yes, Klaus wants the both of you but, she don't live in Mystic Falls and she don't live here either." The witch frowned.
" Then where is she?" I asked with edge. Truthfully I couldn't deal with any mind games right now.
" She's running. Your doppelgänger ain't wanna be found." Gladys didn't make any reaction.
" What if we just want to help her keep safe from Klaus? Do you think we can contact her some way?" I asked looking at Damon. His eyes were wide.
" I can contact her in her dreams maybe but, I doubt she'll listen anyway." Gladys sighed.
What Gladys said reminded me of the strange dream I had. Obviously it was my doppelgänger trying to communicate with me. In my mind, she was fleeing but, I just want to meet her. Even if it's only for a second, I just want to see her in person.
" Is there any way I can get to see her?" I asked but, Gladys shook her head no.
" Are you sure you want to look for her? The last time Stefan and I handled doppelgängers, one of them just made things one hundred percent worse than they were before. Then she ran away when things got too dangerous for herself." Damon gave me a reassuring look. I knew he was talking about Elena's doppelgänger.
" Katherine?" Gladys raised an eyebrow.
" Yeah." Damon pursed his lips.
" She was hell in heels." Gladys chuckled.
" I know." Damon rolled his eyes.
" What if I just want to meet her." I referred to my doppelgänger. Katherine didn't seem like the type of crazy bitch I wanted or needed in my life right now.
" Then that'll cost you some more blood and another night." She explained. I looked at Damon but slight worry was traced on his face.
" I'll wait for another time. I have to be back to bury my parents for tomorrow." I swallowed my sorrow.
" Then I'll see you." Gladys smiled waving at us.
" Thanks Gladys." Damon gave her a sincere look before hesitating to look at me.
" Words can't express how thankful-" I was cut off.
" Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know the same old story. I said: bye." Gladys then vanished into dust.
***
The drive back to Mystic Falls was quiet. Damon barely said anything and this time I didn't bother to say anything. If it was silence that he was giving me then it was silence we were going to stay in.
My mind couldn't stop pondering around. There was the hidden doppelgänger, my parents funeral, Klaus watch and worrying about everyone else. Alec and Cassidy would get killed by Klaus if they were ever in the way, so would anyone else. The most interesting fact about being told you aren't human is that you feel lost. Because that's basically how I feel right now.
