{Chapter 18.}

I found myself in front of the full body image mirror once again trying to perfect the way I looked. Elijah had picked out a long dark blue dress for me to wear. It would be the same one that my doppelgänger would be wearing so we could differentiate her from the crowd faster. Our hairstyles would be the same too, both parted to the side half up, half down and curled.
This time, I didn't wait for anyone to tell me to hurry. I waltzed out of my room and down the stairs. Damon was waiting by the end of the staircase for me in a tuxedo with his hair gelled. We decided that we would go together.
" Do I look okay?" I asked, feeling insecure.
" You look amazing." He responded. I smiled in the form of a thank you.
Everyone else was downstairs too, except for Matt, apparently he was out of town. Tyler was with Caroline who wore a long yellow dress. Alec was with Elena who wore a short red dress and Jeremy was with Bonnie who was in a a long green dress. Stefan agreed that he would take my doppelgänger from Elijah in the Founders Court. We were all picture perfect and ready to go.
Damon chose to carpool with Alec and Elena in the back of his car while Jeremy drove the rest.
" M'lady." Damon opened the front door of the boarding house for me to exit but, I hesitated.
" What if she doesn't like me?" I asked, referring to my doppelgänger.
" Then she'll be forced to like you." Damon smirked and guided me out of the door.
Alec and Elena were already in the car by the time we got there. Hopefully there wasn't going to be anyone intimidating there because Alec wasn't the best with blood so far. Stefan had taken him for a little walk yesterday and he explained that he'd turn Alec into an animal feeder. Which is a pretty self explanatory type of vampire. Either way I knew that Alec was safe because he had Elena on his back.
About seven or so minutes later, all of us arrived in the Founders court. There were a lot of different people wearing all sorts of fancy attire and the weather was perfect today.
" Who are you looking for?" Damon asked. Truthfully, I couldn't tell what I was looking for myself.
" I'm not sure." I shrugged. "Do you think they're here yet?"
" Who?" He asked.
" Elijah and my doppelgänger. Do you think they're here yet?" My eyes scanned over the crowd.
" I doubt that Elijah would bring her here now, the ball just started." Damon slipped his arm through mine. "C'mon. Let's go."
With that said, we entered inside of the hall. It was all marble from here on out with a small stage by the back wall. At the moment there was a band playing some upbeat music as all of the guests entered. There were even strobed lights decorating the hall. At some point, Damon and I had lost touch with everyone from the boarding house. Although we were all in pairs so we were safe and whenever Stefan got here, he could fend for himself too.
Damon had our arms wrapped tightly around each other, which I didn't blame him for after Katherine kidnapped Elena and my brother. We walked through the hall with some eyes watching. I guess Damon knew a lot of people because a couple of the them bothered to wave at him. Mayor Lockwood suddenly approached us surprisingly without his wife.
" Hello Mr. Salvatore." He shook Damon's hand sternly and trailed off when he looked at me. "I'm afraid we haven't met, are you apart of the new family that's moved in down the street?"
