{Chapter 19.}
Lydia:
Here I was, dancing with Stefan in the Founders Court just waiting for Elijah and my doppelgänger to take me away. Well, sort-of.
Occasionally the couples on the dance floor would spread apart, spin and go back into each other's arms. I knew that was when we would switch. The part was coming up soon and Stefan was still looking around for them. I secretly prayed that Elijah hadn't stood us up. Although he kind of promised everyone that he'd show.
" The switch is happening soon." Stefan whispered by my ear.
" I don't see them." I whispered back.
As I glanced over my shoulder, there was a girl who looked exactly like me doing the same thing. We gasped at each other, then turned away. When the big switch happened it wasn't as dramatic as I thought it'd be. I swung out of Stefan's arms and right into Elijah's. He had brownish hair and dark brown eyes looking about thirty years old.
" Elijah." I asked, continuing to dance as if nothing happened.
" Indeed that's me." He cleared his throat. "Hello Lydia Rivers."
" How do you know my name?" I asked on edge.
" I see that you don't exactly find me worth your trust." Elijah had no facial expression.
" Not really." I tried my best to hold my guard but, part of me believed I was being rude.
" I hope you all take care of Grace. She's a pleasant young girl." Elijah's attention was behind me. When I turned my head I seen Stefan and my doppelgänger leaving.
" Grace?" I questioned. "Is that her name?"
" Her full name is Grace Gillan. She's aware of what situation you are all in and her intentions are to be helpful." Elijah's words came out with hesitation.
We continued to dance in silence. I wondered if the song would ever end or if Damon would ever show up to take me away. Although some of me wanted more time to speak with Elijah.
Damon:
I stalled around the outskirts of the crowd. The place was full with people. I could've just swiped every one of their necks but, I didn't. Mostly because there was already enough going on but, I was ravenous- and not for caviar on crackers.
It wasn't long before I seen Stefan rushing Lydia up the stairs. I had to finish saying what I was saying to her before. Plus, Stefan never actually explained this whole doppelgänger switch thing to me. So I decided to go up the stairs and follow them. Reaching the top of the staircase, I seen Lydia sneak into a room. Stefan was no where to be seen and he couldn't have gone in there with her. At least, I didn't think so.
I entered the room Lydia was in and closed the door behind me. It seemed as though she was in the bathroom but, as she came out her clothes were changed. Lydia seemed different with her hair in a ponytail, a purple long sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of sneakers. Her eyes shifted towards me.
" Hi." She looked at me confused.
" Hey ..." I started walking closer to her. "Can I just start over what I was gonna say earlier?"
" I-" She began but I cut her off before she could make an excuses.
" Lydia, I'm in love with you." I wrapped my hands around hers. "And no matter what happens today or tomorrow I'll still be madly in love with you. Now I don't care what you say or do but, I really felt the need to tell you that because it's burning inside of me and I can't stop it."
