Recap:
I put my hand on his, which is still on my belly, and say, "You're nervous, aren't you? About being a father."Asa says, "Well, now you've put it into words, I am nervous. Very nervous."
---------
I bit my lip and looked around. I didn't know what to say. After a few minutes of awkward silence, Asa spoke up. "Well.. It might be fun. Being a dad, I mean."
I nodded, still not knowing what to say. I mean, it's okay for him.. He's not the one who has to go through the pain of delivering the baby into the world.
Asa gulped and stroked my knuckles gently with his thumb. I blushed and looked at him, smiling a little.
"What if I'm not a good mum? I-I.. Don't think I have the skills" I said. Asa chuckled a little.
"Once the baby's born you'll have motherly instincts, silly!"
I sighed. "Yeah, but what if I don't have those 'motherly instincts'?"
Asa shrugged. "I think you will. You can speak to my mom or yours." I nodded, taking a mental note in my head.
"I think I'll do that." I smiled a little.
Asa smiles back at me. "Don't worry Gem, you'll be a great mom."
I nodded, although I didn't really believe him at all.
