"Oh my.." I whispered, looking down at my stomach and resting one of my hands on it. Wow. It was finally starting to feel.. Real.
"She/he's growing away in there.. Healthily!" Asa wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest. I held onto him with one arm while keeping my other hand on my stomach, feeling the little bump with my fingers.
Asa whispers, 'Can I maybe.. Talk to it?"
"Of course.. You know, you don't have to ask permission about anything. This is your baby as well."
"I know, I just want to make sure your comfortable. Do you think the baby has ears yet? Oh! Will she or he be able to hear me? This is exciting!"
I laughed at how excited he was. Adorable. "I don't know, I need to do more research.. I mean you can try talking to it." I shrugged.
He let's go of me, looking up at me worriedly. I nodded, stroking his cheek gently. "It's fine Ace.. Don't feel embarrassed, this isn't making me uncomfortable."
"You sure? I mean.." he gulps and trails off, tracing my little bump gently with his finger tip.
"I'm sure!"
Asa takes a deep breath, before whispering, "Hi baby.. Um, it's daddy. I don't know if you can hear me yet, but I just want to let you know that me and mommy love you with all our heart's already, even if you haven't made an appearance yet.. Just keep safe in there little one." He finished, kissing my bump gently.
I giggled quietly, "of course it's going to be safe in there. I mean, what could go wrong??"
Asa looked at me seriously. "Just what the doctor said.. About you maybe not being able to carry the baby full-term, I'm worried Gemma.."
"Ace.. Everything will be okay, they just have to be cautious! I promise this baby will come into the world safely."
"You're right. I'm just working myself up for no reason, sorry." He stood up and shook his head, looking down. I pulled him into a hug and repeated for the second time.
"Everything will be okay."
