Gemma's POV

"So, Asa.." I started, and when I said his name, he looked so scared. I just shook it off. "Is this what you want?"

He just looked at me, and gulped. "W-what?"

"Do you want this child? Because, you've been acting really strange since we've found out I'm pregnant."

"Of course I want this baby! It's just..." He let himself trail off.

"Just what? C'mon Ace, tell me." I leaned over and caressed his cheek with my hand.

"Well, Gemma, you know I love you so much, and--" He got cut off by a nurse coming in to do some check-ups on me.

I sighed but put on a fake smile. This always happens to us.

"So, Mrs Butterfield--" We gasped.

"No! I'm not married to him!" I giggled, sounding ridiculous. "Not yet anyway." I blushed like a little schoolgirl.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! You make such a cute couple, by the way. And, is this his baby?" She asked, gesturing to my stomach. I looked over at Asa and saw that he was nodding to the nurse.

"Wow, congratulations!" She smiled and made me lay down. I smiled and thanked her.

"Is this my first scan?" I was really clueless about this.

"No! No, it's far too early for that, I just need to run some checks to see if your body is okay with the new baby."

"Oh, that's fine."

*Skip the tests*

So, apparently my body was okay to carry a baby. I had to get these tests done, because when I was a newborn, I had to get a lot of things done with me, because I nearly died. They're scared my baby's going to have the same condition.

"What happened when you were a baby?" Asa asked me, coming in the door straight behind me.

"Basically, I wasn't ready to come out yet, but my mom's body wasn't coping well under stress, so they had to get me out really early. From then on, I've had to get lots of tests done on me, because that affected me. Badly. I nearly died."

"That's terrible! And do you think it's going to affect our baby?"

"Well... The baby has a 50/50 chance of inheriting it from me."

"So..." He cut himself off, but I knew what he meant.

"'Maybe. But, the nurse said it very rarely happens, so we have a chance of delivering a heathy baby."

"Hopefully."

"Yeah." We sat there in silence for a moment. "I can't wait to get a baby bump!"

"You're going to look so cute! I'll have to take lots of pictures." Asa replied, smiling at me.

"Of course you will." I started to twiddle my thumbs and bite my lip, holding in the tears.

"Gemma?" Asa bent forward and stroked my hand. I lifted my head.

"Yes?"

"Stop worrying. Our baby will be okay."

That's when I lost it. I just burst out crying. If anything bad happened to my baby, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.

"Asa, I can't help it. What it it isn't? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened!" The tears flowed faster.

"Everything will be fine, I promise." He got up and came over, kneeling down in front of me. "Look at me."

I kept my head down, but he grabbed my chin and made me look him in the eyes. "If anything happens to the baby, we'll get through it together."

"You say that now, but if something actually does happen, you'll think differently."

"Okay, maybe, but I'll stick with you." Asa lifted his hand and grazed a finger over my cheek, wiping away some of the tears. I sniffled. "Come here." He said, standing up and pulling me up of the chair. Suddenly, he engulfed me in a massive hug. I hugged back gratefully, not wanting to let him go.

He was right.

We're going to get through this pregnancy together.
