2 Months Later..
GEMMA'S POV
I was now uncomfortable, swollen and seven months pregnant. The joys! Not.
I mean, of course I was happy and blessed to be carrying twins safely, but I was so big! It was getting harder to cuddle with Asa properly, we had to spoon which sometimes got too warm.
There was a risk of me not carrying the babies full term, which would obviously make them premature. I was really worried about that, but thankfully nothing had happened yet so I was hoping it would stay that way.
Asa and I had decided to keep the names Aria and Miley.. Well, that was until one night when I couldn't get to sleep and I was just thinking things over.
"Ace," I hissed into the darkness. I was staring up at the pitch back ceiling, not being able to find a comfortable way to sleep because of my massive bump.
I heard Asa shuffle around a little while making sleepy noises, before hissing back, "what?"
"I can't sleep, my bump keeps getting in the way.. So I've just been laying here thinking, I've changed my mind about Miley."
"You have? I really liked that name too, but it's up to you." I heard him yawn.
"What about.. Jessica? Jessica Louise Butterfield? It's so sweet, I love it." I smiled at the thought.
"Jessica.." He tried it out. "Jessica Louise Butterfield. I like it! And for short we can call her Jessie or Jess?"
"Yes!! You like?" I snuggled into him, resting my hand on his bare chest and my head on his shoulder.
"Yeah I actually do like it.." He yawned again. Cooing, I suddenly felt bad for waking him up.
"That's good. Jessica it is then. I'm sorry for waking you up Acey, you can go back to sleep now. Night." I smiled and felt around a little in the darkness before finally getting to his nose and placing a little kiss on it. He didn't reply, so I assume he fell asleep already. Sleepy baby.
Sighing, I rolled around a little, my bump limiting me from sleeping in several positions. I laid on my side, feeling the sleep take over after a couple of minutes..
**
The next morning, I woke up to an empty space. I felt around with my eyes still closed, expecting to feel Asa there. Nope. My feeling around got more frantic as I realized no one was laying beside me and my eyes shot open.
"Ace?!" I called, slowly heaving myself up from the bed and slipping into my slippers. I "waddled" out of our bedroom and over to the top of the stairs, calling for him again.
After a few minutes he appeared at the bottom of the steps, shirtless with a towel hanging over his shoulder. "Yes Gem?"
"For Gods sake you scared me! I didn't know where you went, could you leave me a note in the future!" I said, placing a hand on my chest.
"I'm sorry! I just went downstairs to make you breakfast, you were still asleep when I woke up I didn't want to wake you--" he started, before the smoke alarm cut him off, "shit, my toast!" I laughed and wrapped a robe around myself before heading downstairs and smelling the burnt toast. I didn't really get morning sickness anymore, but that smell was completely overpowering and did make me quite queasy.
"Oh God Ace, you're going to have to throw that toast out! Look at the state of it!" I laughed. It was well and truly burnt, black all over. Asa pouted and threw it into the trash.
"All I wanted to do was make you a nice breakfast to wake up to, and yet I burnt it. I mean, we still have bacon and eggs if you want?"
I smiled, cooing at his effort. "Bacon and eggs sound perfect, I'm not really that fussed on toast anyway." I sat down at the table and leaned back into the chair, rubbing my giant belly. My bump moved around a bit as the babies kicked.
"Good morning baby A and baby B." I started, rubbing my bump through the thin material of my nightie. Even though we had their names sorted, I still liked calling them baby A and baby B. It was sort of like a nickname.
"They're awake?" Asa asked, after plating up my breakfast and setting it down in front of me. He then got down onto his knees and kissed my bump, gently resting his head against it.
"Yup. They were awake all night, keeping mommy up as well." I laughed which caused my bump to jiggle. Even though most of the time I was uncomfortable and sore, I knew that once the babies were born I'd really miss my bump. It was a blessing to be carrying two little miracles inside me. I wasn't even a religious person, just happy to be defying the odds and being pregnant.
"It's going to be the same once they're born, we're going to have to assign baby duties. They'll probably wake up in the middle of the night crying for a bottle, or else needing a diaper change."
"Well for the first couple of months I'm planning to breast feed so I'll take care of the feeding duties. And we can change a diaper each." I beamed, happy with the plan.
"Good idea. Alright, eat up because I'm planning to take you somewhere!" Asa patted my bump gently before getting up and sitting down at the other side of the table and tucking into his breakfast. I did the same.
**
After I had ate my breakfast and got showered and dressed, I was ready for Asa to take me out. I still had no idea where he was taking me, but had noticed that he'd went out to the car a couple of times with a few things. I had a feeling that he was going to propose but of course I was wrong.
When he came in for the last time he took my hand and led me out into the car. "Where are we going Ace?"
"That's a surprise, you'll see once we arrive." He smirked, helping me into the car and doing my seatbelt up for me over my bump.
"Ugh, fine!" I sat back into my seat as he got in and drove off to my apparent "surprise".
