The Next Day...

Asa
The next morning, I woke up in Aramis's guest bedroom. I looked around, and saw Gemma curled up next to me, with her clothes from yesterday still on. I wondered where the girls were, but when I reached over and grabbed my phone from the nightstand I saw a text from my mum on the lock screen. After rubbing my eyes, I read it:

From: Mum
Not happy with you. I have the girls, and I said I would keep them again today. You and Gemma need to talk.

I sighed, locking my phone again and looking down at Gemma who was still asleep. Moving gently, I pulled her closer to me and held her in my arms. I sniffled and stroked her hair, tears starting to come to my eyes.

Why did I feel like this?

Gemma
I opened my eyes slowly, to the sensation of someone stroking my hair. I lifted my head and saw Asa, staring up at the ceiling with tears in his eyes. I didn't say anything, just laid my head back down on his chest and hugged him tightly.

After a few minutes in silence, I said softly, "I'm here for you Ace, and I want to help you. But you have to talk to me, I'm not a mind reader." I looked up at him again, resting my chin on his chest.

Asa nodded, "I know angel, but I don't want to stress you out. Especially not while you're pregnant."

I sighed. "Everybody has been saying that. It's like being pregnant is some sort of hinderance, you can still tell me."

Asa paused for a moment. He was about to open his mouth until Aramis knocked on the door. "Come in." He said instead.

Aramis stepped into the room, "Morning guys. How are you feeling Ace?"

"Morning. My head's a bit sore but other than that, I'm fine... Wait, on second thoughts..." He got up quickly and rushed to the en suite bathroom, and we heard him throw up. I sighed.

"Morning, A." I smiled at Aramis then walked into the en suite after Asa, rubbing his back gently. The fact that he was throwing up on top of my pregnancy hormones which already caused morning sickness, made me want to throw up. Asa shivered a little and huddled over the toilet before throwing up again. I continued rubbing his back, but looked away. I really felt like I was about to throw up too.

After a few minutes, he sat up straight and grabbed a piece of toilet paper, wiping his mouth with it then throwing it down the toilet. He looked at me, "How are you not throwing up? Is your morning sickness easing up?" I laughed and shook my head.

"Not gonna lie, I felt like throwing up. But no, it's still in full swing. I'm fine now though." I ran my fingers through his hair and he smiled and got up, before flushing and washing his hands.

"Breakfast's ready you guys!" Aramis called. I looked at Asa.

"Do you even want anything to eat?"

He nodded, replying, "Yeah, I'm starving now. Come on, let's go."

After breakfast, Asa and I had decided it was time to go and collect the twins. I had completely forgotten about the thing he was supposed to tell me, because I was just looking forward to seeing the girls again.

Before we went, we both decided to freshen up quickly in the en suite bathroom of Aramis's guest room. I had slept in my clothes last night and I really needed to get out of them.

We thanked Aramis and Danielle for letting us stay, giving them hugs on the way out. I saw Aramis whisper something to Asa, which he nodded at, but I looked away. He would tell me in his own time, even though I already knew what he was going to say. But I needed to hear it from him.

I got into the drivers seat of the car and Asa got into the passengers seat. "I'm so sorry for yesterday, Gemma. For lying like that." He looked at me. I kept my eyes on the road, but held his hand over the car controls.

"Just don't lie to me again, Ace. That was a really shitty thing to do."

He nodded. "I know, and I'm sorry. So... did everything go alright? At the scan I mean..." He trailed off and I nodded, stopping at a red light.

"According to Dr Gray, everything's alright. Baby's looking healthy, and there's only one in there this time. I can show you the photos when we get home if you want." I smiled a little. Asa nodded and I saw him gulp a little.

"Sure. I'd like to see." I nodded, driving again when the light turned green.

After around 30 minutes we made it to Asa's mom's house. We both got out and went up to the door, Asa knocked. After a few moments, Loxie answered and smiled up at us.

"Hi guys! Come in, the twins have missed you. Jessica kept talking about her 'ma'." She giggled, stepping aside to let us both in. I cooed, hugged her, then walked into the living room to see Jake playing with the girls. I smiled, watching as their little eyes lit up when they saw me and Asa walk into the room.

"Hi babies! Have you both missed your mommy and daddy?!" I giggled, picking Jessica then Aria up and holding them on both of my hips. When the unborn baby gets bigger and when my belly starts to grow I won't be able to do this anymore, so I was making the most of it. "Hi, Jake." I smiled over at her, as Asa entered the room and greeted the girls, kissing them on their little noses, and then saying hi his mom.

"Hi Gemma." She smiled at me, then looked at Asa. "Kitchen. Now, please. I need to have a word with you." She got up and walked in to the chosen room. Asa looked at me, made a face, then trotted sheepishly behind his mom. I giggled a little, looking at the twins who watched their dad and grandma walk into the kitchen with curious eyes.

Asa
I walked into the kitchen behind my mum, already knowing what she was going to say. She closed the door behind us and turned around to face me.

"What is wrong with you Asa? What was that all about yesterday? Lying to Gemma, seriously? Not even going to see your own baby? I'm so disappointed in you." She shook her head. I sighed.

"Look mum, I know, what I did was terrible. But Gemma and I are gonna talk it out."

My mum shakes her head, "You better sort it out Asa, before this baby comes. And don't ever lie to Gemma again, I raised you better than that."

I nodded. "I won't mum, I promise."

"Is everything okay, Asa? You know you can talk to me if you ever need too." My mum looked at me, concern filling her face. I nodded again.

"Everything's... fine. As I said, Gemma and I need to talk a few things out but other than that, yeah, I'm okay."

My mum sighed. "Okay. Come on, let's go back out. You haven't seen the girls in a while and they really missed you." I smiled, opening the kitchen door. I walked over to Gemma and grinned, booping Aria's nose then Jessica's. I needed to shower all my girls with some love.
