5 weeks later....

I was 12 weeks pregnant now, preparing for my first scan. Unfortunately, Asa had had a meeting with one of his managers so he wasn't able to make it, which upset me but I kept quiet about it. Although he had told me that he was happy about the baby, I could sense that something was wrong with him and I started to doubt his words.

I pulled up outside my mom's house, looking in the rear view mirror of the car at my now 8 month old twins, babbling to each other. They hadn't yet said their proper first words, but knew that I was their "ma". They were so close to saying momma, and I teased Asa about it because he was so certain that "dada" would be their first word. Smiling, I ring my mom to let her know we were outside so that she could help me with the girls.

A few minutes later, she comes out and hugs me. Asa and I had told both of our families about the baby, and they were just as shocked as we were but 100% supportive. My mom hugged me, "Asa not going to the scan today?" She looked at me with her eyebrows raised.

Sighing, I shook my head. "Nope. He has a meeting, which is apparently more important than seeing our kid for the first time." I shrugged, "Anyway, I'll be fine."

My mom shook her head. "I can't let you go to your scan alone, Gems. It's not fair. Look, could you phone Asa's mom and ask her to look after the twins so I can come with you?"

I thought about it for a moment, looking through the car windows at the girls in the back. Nodding, I said, "I'll do that now. But honestly mom, I don't mind going by myself."

"I want to come with you." I smiled a little bit, and reached into my purse, grabbing my cell. I scrolled through my contacts until I reached Jake's number, and hit the "call" button. She answered after a few rings.

"Hi Gemma! Everything okay love?"

Smiling, I replied, "Hi Jake, everything's good thanks. I have my twelve week scan today, and was wondering if you could look after the girls? My mom's coming with me, so she can't."

She answered right away, "Of course I can, Gemma! Wait, is Asa there too?"

I sighed. "No, he has a meeting today."

Jake paused for a moment, "Oh... He isn't seeing the baby with you?"

"No. But it's fine, I'll show him the photos later on."

"Oh, it's so exciting Gem... I cant wait to see the photos! Bring the twins over whenever."

I smiled, "Thank you, I'll see you in a few minutes. Bye." After we had said our goodbyes, I hung up and put the phone back in my purse, gesturing to my mum to get into the car. I got into the drivers seat and drove to Asa's parents house.

"I hope everything goes well at the scan Gem, make sure to keep Loxie and I updated!" Jake smiled, holding Jessica on her lap while Loxie played with Aria. I nodded, smiling.

"Thanks for keeping them, Jake. I really appreciate it." Jake tutted, shaking her head.

"You don't have to thank me Gem, they're my grandbabies. I love looking after them!" She kissed Jessica's little head, causing her to giggle. I laughed softly.

"Well, I suppose I should get going. Bye my babies, mommy will see you soon! With a picture of your little brother or sister." I giggled, kissing Jessica's head then Aria's. "Bye Lox, see you soon." I ruffled her hair.

She giggled, "Bye Gem, bye baby!" She rubbed the little pudge that was my stomach and I smiled.

"Bye Jake, I'll keep you updated." I gave her a hug and left.
