Saedii Gilwraeth-Jones is a godamn idiot.
She's lying in a back alley, bleeding out.
She just had to get into another fight. And then for her arrogance, she got stabbed.
She knows she's too far gone to be saved, so with blood-slicked fingers she reaches for her uniglass, and calls her husband, Tyler Jones.
"Hey, Terran."
"Babe? What's up?"
"Nothing, really. I just miss your voice."
She wipes a tear away, but only smears her olive face with blood.
"Saedes, baby, you've been gone for an hour. How can you miss my voice in an hour? Also, will you be home soon? I'm making s'mores and I got that movie that you wanted to watch!"
Saedii can practically hear his smile.
"Oh!" Tyler's footsteps turn away from the Uni, and bring back a babbling, two-year old Laleth ,"say hi to Mommy, Lal!"
"Mm!!" Laleth coos, and Saedii weakly smiles.
"I-" she bites back another sob ,"I'll be there soon, okay? I love you, so, so much Tyler Gilwraeth-Jones, and I love you so, so much Laleth Gilwraeth-Jones."
"I love you too so, so much Saedii Gilwraeth-Jones. I'll see you soon, okay? Me and Laleth miss you!"
The final beep reaches her ears, and she smiles softly.
"I'll see you soon, Mother. I'll see you soon, Kaliis."
And with that, Saedii Gilwraeth-Jones takes her last, shuddering breath.
