You...knew them?" The paladin asks, almost curiously over the crimson wail of the alarms.
"I think I did. A long time ago. And if I did I knew them all."
"Tyler and Scarlett and Zila and Finian and Cat and my beautiful, beautiful Aurora." I murmur, my head against the glass and my hair falling into my eyes.
These are my final moments.
I wish to only think of her.
"What were they like?" The paladin whispers, suddenly quiet as the alarm wails.
"WARNING: NUCLEAR MISSILE INBOUND. TWO MINUTES UNTIL COLLISION."
I pick up the ripped and faded pictures from below me, looking at the smiling faces within.
A photo of Aurora and I kissing on our first date.
A photo of our mismatched family arm in arm, grinning stupidly at the camera.
A photo of Aurora looking down at a book, her hair messy and her glasses perched upon her nose.
So many memories, all to be reduced to nothing.
"They were going to change the world." I murmur, and everything goes white as the missile collides with us.
