You know, I never meant for this to be this way!" Meridaa calls, throwing her GIA helmet to the charred ground of the battlefield ,"I meant to love you! I meant to keep you from nightmares, and be yours forever and always!"
"Instead you became the nightmare." Zila hisses, clutching her disruptor tighter in her grip.
"No, my dear Zee, I became the saviour."
Meridaa cackles into the howling wind and gunfire, madness and grief having messed with her mind beyond repair.
She is not the girl Zila fell in love with.
Not the one who held her at night, keeping her from the memories of her parents.
Not the girl she got the two tattoos with on her sixteenth birthday.
"I'm going to make you mine, Zila! Or I'll put you in your grave with your parents."
Zila snaps, and with rage that she's never felt before, hurls her small body at Meridaa, screaming.
She shoots blindly, and hits Meridaa in the stomach.
The Betraskan girl falls to the battlefield ground with a screech, pink blood spilling out of her bullet wound.
Zila aims her gun at Meridaa's head, her own mind full of swirling emotions.
"Oh, Meridaa. You thought you could hurt my friends? That you could hurt me? I may have loved you once, but not now." Zila murmurs, tightening her handle on her gun.
"I-" Meridaa coughs blood and groans ,"Zila, please."
"Don't try it. Don't."
"I lov—" Meridaa chokes out.
And Zila pulls the trigger before she can speak.
Zila Madran is certainly not feeling nothing.
