He should probably keep walking, even though he had no idea where he was going.
---
Chris has been walking pretty much all night and all morning, only taking a few breaks. He's been walking for so long that he's beginning to go a bit crazy, and the fact that he got no sleep and that the scenery seemed to never change definitely did not help at all.
The only thing that seemed to keep him entertained were the sounds, the forest was filled with many different ones. At night, the owls called to each other, their calming hoos sounding at a rubato tempo. The sounds of the crickets adding a layer of almost percussive sounds, keeping the tempo a bit more in line. To accompany these two, the occasional wind through the leaves of the trees filled the blank space behind them, the white noise making the whole piece have a calming, filled tone.
Contrasting that, this morning, the forest's soundtrack was comprised of mostly the messy morning tweets of the birds. The crickets and owls went into rest, but the calm winds still rustled the leaves of the trees.
Chris really liked the sounds of the forest.
Chris sighed as he continued walking, still bored out of his mind. He had to come across something eventually, right?
At least he was getting lots of cardio.
Chris decided he was going to take another break.
Sitting down on the forest floor, Chris slid his backpack off of his back and unzipped it, reaching. He grabbed a granola bar and immediately opened it.
It's snack time.
Leaning against his backpack, Chris ate his granola bar quite slowly, mind wandering as he stared up at the bright sky.
Five months ago, he probably wouldn't have expected his life to turn into this mess. If you told Chris back then that he would get an opportunity to act on his hatred for the person that ruined his life, become best friends with two quite infamous supervillains, date his best friend then find out that he was his worst enemy, and run away from his hometown before he even finished high school, he'd think you were crazy.
But that's pretty much what Chris went through.
Chris finished the granola bar and threw the wrapper on the forest floor.
Chris honestly didn't care if he was littering. He's done way worse crimes. Throwing trash on the floor outside was nothing.
Chris stood up and slung his backpack over his shoulders and continued walking.
Time to get to his unknown destination.
---
It's almost been twenty-four hours since he first escaped to the forest and Chris has still not found anything.
Chris was starting to get quite fatigued. It's been ages.
Chris just wanted to lie down and sleep the night away.
But he couldn't.
How large was this fucking forest? He was literally in the middle of fucking nowhere.
But then he saw something.
Chris stopped. There seemed to be something in the distance, being blocked by the trees.
It looked like some sort of building(?)
Curious, Chris started to walk a bit faster towards it. It seemed to be a quite large building since he was so far away from it, yet he could still spot it.
Why the hell is there a building in the middle of nowhere?
Once he was closer, Chris then began to realize how large the building was. The outside walls were a monotone dark grey.
It looked kind of like a big block.
Chris then arrived at where the treeline stopped, presumably where the trees were cut down to make room to build.
The building was huge. It looked like some sort of industrial place, like a factory of some sort. One side of the building had some sort of huge field laid out in front of it, concrete laid down on the forest floor to create what Chris seemed to think was a landing pad for helicopters by the markings.
Chris saw that the trees continued on the other side, so this definitely wasn't part of a city or town or something. It was legitimately just a building in the middle of nowhere.
Curiosity now completely replacing his tiredness from before, Chris began to walk towards the building and onto the concrete.
What is this?
Chris looked around, trying to find some sort of explanation of what this was.
And that's when he saw it.
There was a logo on the side of the building with the concrete, a very familiar name there that the whole world thought was long gone now.
KimTech.
A/N yall thought that the Mr. Kim and KimTech backstory thing referenced in Anti wasn't important, but I'll just say now that you're wrong. :)
