"What're we waiting for? Let's go!" Naruto yelled, taking a step towards the exit of the village.
"Not just yet," Kakashi stopped him. "We're going to be working along side a team of Sand ninja. We have to wait for them."
"That'll be four teams for one mission," I whispered so only he could hear. "Is that really necessary? And if it is, should a mixed group of mostly chunin really be the ones going after these guys?"
"It'll be fine," he tried to reassure me, but I could tell from his expression that he had doubts about this mission too.
Temari approached with a group of shinobi tagging behind her.
"I'm assuming you're the ones who will be joining us?" I asked.
Temari nodded, but before she could say anything, one of the Kazekage's council members appeared next to us.
"New orders. Lady Temari, your team will be stationed here to protect the village and patrol the perimeter."
Temari shot him a sizzling glare. "Are you kidding me, or what?"
"They're orders from above. There's nothing we can do about it. If word gets out that the Kazekage is missing, our enemies will try and use that as an opportunity to launch an attack on the village."
I took a step back while Temari argued with the other Sand ninja, and my shoulder bumped into Kakashi in the process.
I jumped away quickly. "Sorry."
A frown pulled at his lips and I could see it through his mask. "It's alright. You don't have to be nervous around me. You know that."
I opened my mouth to answer, but was cut off by the shrill sound of another voice.
"I'm going too!"
Kakashi and I both looked up to see Lady Chiyo standing on the building above us.
"If a sand shinobi is needed, then I'll be the one to go. I may be retired, but that just means I'm free to do what I want."
"But the journey will be hard and long," one of the other Sand ninja spoke.
"Ha! Stop treating me like a fossil!"
Lady Chiyo jumped from her spot on the building, and I squeezed my eyes shut until I heard her feet land safely on the ground.
"It's decided then," Kakashi chimed in. "The team of Sand shinobi will stay to protect the village, and Lady Chiyo will accompany us to recover the Kazekage."
Without any more debate, both my team and Kakashi's -with the addition of Chiyo- headed in the direction Pakkun directed us. However, we soon came to a small clearing where we were stopped by an ominous figure.
He was clad in a long robe with baggy sleeves and small red clouds that decorated the fabric. Only his red, sharingan eyes could be seen over the tall collar.
"Oh no," I muttered.
"Who is that guy, (Y/N) Sensei?" Jin asked in a hushed tone.
"His name is Itachi Uchiha," I responded. "You might be too young to know who he is, but he's bad news."
Amari stepped closer to the rest of us. "He's responsible for the Uchiha massacre, remember? We were just starting at the academy back then."
Jin stared at the man in front of us, his electric blue eyes narrowed. "Yeah, I remember."
The gentle wind blew against us, and I watched as Itachi's hair was gust away from his face. He was a handsome man. It was hard to imagine him as a mass murderer.
