~Four Days Later~Kakashi was able to leave his bed not even twenty-four hours after his injury. All he needed was a little sleep before he was ready to get back to being team seven's sensei. With the help of crutches that is.
Unlucky for me, my wounds were taking much longer to heal. Only on day four of bed rest did Tazuna's daughter allow me to get up. Even then, I was being forced to use a wheelchair.
"Today you'll be learning chakra control," Kakashi explained to our six students.
He lead us to a wooded area. Him on his crutches and me being pushed in my wheelchair by Kamina.
"In order reach the full potential of your technique, you need to be able to mix the energies from both your body and spirt," I added.
"Exactly," Kakashi agreed. "You may be able to produce a large amount of chakra, but if you can't control the balance then your technique will be ineffective. The only way to achieve this balance is from rigorous training and putting your life on the line."
I rolled my eyes. I was beginning to learn that Kakashi could be slightly over dramatic.
"So what do we need to do?" Sakura asked.
Kakashi smiled. "Climb a tree. Without your hands."
"Huh?" Amari mumbled.
Kakashi was enjoying this way too much.
"How're we supposed to do that?" Naruto asked.
I slowly stood from my chair on wobbly legs. Stretching the skin around my stitches hurt, but it was necessary for the healing process.
"You want to focus your chakra to the soles of your feet and make them attach to the tree," I explained, showing them exactly what I meant by hobbling myself over to the closest tree and walking up the side.
Kakashi did the same, taking his crutches with him. "The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to focus your chakra to a chosen area. It can be difficult even for highly trained shinobi. In theory, if you can master how to do this, then you should be able to learn any type of technique with ease."
"Use your kunai to mark your progress on the tree," I said.
Naruto took his kunai knife out of his bag. "This training is going to be easy for me. Since I'm the guy who's growing the most!"
I could see from my perch that Amari and Jin both rolled their eyes.
All the kids began running at their selected trees as I started to feel the blood rushing to my head.
"Naruto is a lot like his mom," I said out of the blue.
Kakashi looked at me with a one-eyed smile. "Yeah. He definitely inherited her hotheaded attitude."
"Was this supposed to be difficult?"
Kakashi and I both looked up to see Amari standing on the underside of a branch, nearly twenty feet up a tree.
"Yeah! This was a lot easier than I thought!"
Looking to our other side, Sakura was seated high up in her own tree.
"What!? How!?" Naruto yelled.
"Looks like these two are closer to being Hokage than a certain someone," Kakashi called down to Naruto.
Naruto's mood visibly changed and a look of determination painted his face.
"You're an antagonizer and a jerk," I said with a laugh.
