|YOU|

I squatted up in a nearby tree, Jin and Amari flanking me on both sides.

Unfortunately, the information Amora's father gave us was less than useful. He knew the location of the loan sharks hideout, but he didn't know how many perpetrators there were, how many of them would be shinobi, or what kind of jutsu they may possess. It felt as if we were going in blind.

"What's the plan, Sensei?" Jin whispered next to me.

I squinted my eyes to try and see through the windows of the hideout, but the inside was all lit by kerosene lamps, making it hard to see.

"The two of you will avoid direct combat with the enemy as best you can. Your goal is to locate Amora and Kamina and get them free. I'll handle the rest."

"Are you serious?" Amari questioned. "We know there's at least three of them in there. One of which kicked your butt earlier, and you expect you'll be able to take them on alone?"

I spun to face the young Yamanka. "No, I don't expect I'll be able to. That's why I wanted to ask more experienced shinobi for help. Yet here we are with no other option."

Thankfully, Amari shut his mouth.

"Okay. I sense a strong chakra coming from near the main entrance, so I'll go in that way. The two of you enter from the back."

I got two nods of confirmation.

"Alrighty, Let's go."

|KAMINA|

There were a lot of things I didn't know. I didn't know where I was, I didn't know who we were taken by, and I didn't know if Sensei was on her way to help us or not. What I did know was that there were four men in the building with us, one of which was a sound ninja, and I also knew Amora was scared. Her face was buried in my shoulder and she was shaking by my side.

"Are we going to send a ransom note? Let the old geezer know we have his kid?"

I was straining to hear what the men were saying in the other room. Though their voices were muffled, I could just faintly make out their conversation.

"No," the voice I assumed belonged to their leader said. "Those ninja from before were from the leaf. They won't leave a genin behind without a fight. They'll pass on our message for us."

His voice matched that of the sound ninja from earlier. Deep and stoic.

"Whatever you say, Rico. But how do you know an ambush of leaf ninja aren't going to storm in here? You're the only one who stands a chance against them."

What did he mean by that? Was this Rico guy the only shinobi among them?

I tried to sharpen my hearing to learn more, but my focus was torn away when I heard the sliding of a window and felt the cool breeze on my skin.

My head snapped in that direction and I quickly jumped in front of Amora.

"Easy," a familiar voice whispered.

"Jin?"

"That's me." His voice was closer now, hovering directly above me.

"Oh thank god," Amora whimpered, a little too loud for my comfort.

Someone else shushed her.

"Amari's here too?"

There was a silent pause before Jin responded. He obviously forgot I couldn't see him nod.

"Yeah. We're here to get you out."

The rope knotted around my wrists loosened and I touched the raw skin. "And (Y/N) sensei?"
