Early the next morning I arrived by the front gates, only to see that all six genin were already waiting patiently.

"Good morning everyone!"

"Morning, (Y/N) sensei," Jin greeted happily.

"I'm surprised you're all here so early."

The Uchiha boy on Kakashi's team scoffed. "Why is it that sensei's are always late to missions?"

I glanced around in search of the client, but other than the six students and myself there was no one here.

"Looks like I'm here before the client. Therefore I'm not late."

Sasuke crossed his arms and stayed silent.

"All right!" I jumped in surprised when Naruto cheered next to me. "This is going to be so awesome!"

A large grin grew across Jin's face. "Right? We're going on a C-ranked mission! Totally awesome!"

"Are kids like these really capable of this mission?"

Looking over my shoulder, an older man wearing a large brimmed hat approached us.

"Hey old geezer," Naruto yelled. "I'm a great ninja!"

"Yeah!" Jin agreed. "We're awesome!"

I laid a hand on Jin's shoulder and he looked up at me. "You know we don't talk to clients like that, you know better."

"Sorry sensei—"

"You must be Tazuna," I said, holding my hand out to shake. "I'm (Y/N), one of the sensei's for this group."

Tazuna looked over my shoulder at the six preteens. "I wouldn't be proud of that if I were you."

"What's everyone talking about?"

Kakashi appeared by my side, and I let out a thankful sigh of relief.

"I'm just not confident that these children are capable of this mission." He pointed towards Kamina. "That one can't even see."

Out of the corner of my eye I could see Kamina hang his head. Acting on impulse, I reached out and gripped the old mans wrist. I twisted it downwards, causing him to hiss in pain.

"He's a shinobi equal to the rest of us. Seeing or otherwise."

A warm hand rested on my shoulder and I looked up to see Kakashi.

"Sorry to interrupt," he said with a smile. "But we should get going."

I dropped Tazuna's hand and gave him a smile of my own. "He's right."

Kakashi and I got our two teams into formation. He lead us in front, behind him was Sasuke and Naruto who were followed by Tazuna. Tazuna was flanked by both Amari and Sakura with Jin and Kamina close behind them. That left me to take up the rear.

I had hoped that this trip would give me the opportunity to talk to Kakashi. Not just to get to know him, but to see if he knew anything about sound jutsu as well. However it didn't look like I was going to get a chance to ask him any time soon.

Not long after we started our journey I could feel beads of sweat rolling down my neck. It was a hot day out, which is why I found it odd when a large puddle crossed our path.

I glanced up to see if any of the others noticed it too. If they did they didn't show it. That didn't stop me from being cautious and using a replacement jutsu to retreat into the tree line.

"You caught onto it to," Kakashi's voice said from above me.

"I'm a jonin too you know. And a water style user at that, so it wasn't hard to put together the oddity of a puddle on such a hot day."
